OT but the Post Office got 2 "Care pkges" to Iraq in less than a week
Our niece ( an MP in Iraq) emailed us last night that she had received the 2 care pkges that we sent her this last Thurs. They share everything, so nothing will go to waste.
There is NO prohibition on pork products this time, but I still listed it as summer sausage, 2 rolls on the Customs form, saw no reason to draw attention to it.They get ham, bacon etc in their hot chow when they get it instead of MRE's.& Thank you and kudos to the US Post Office for getting them there so quickly.
A great Thank you to all those serving/have served (& their families) to protect us. The price of freedom has never been free.
We sent our pkges by priority mail, flat rate, & the Post office discounted both of the large pkgs $2.00. Just 1 pkge sent by weight would have exceeded $24.00. Don't forget those serving to protect us & their families too. May He bless & protect them.
be safe, enjoy life, journey well

Also kudos the military airlift and postal system. Once the packages get to the APO port, the military system takes them the rest of the way.
When I was on an isolated tour, I always looked forward to the "fresh veggies and mail" flights coming in.

I have to say the care packages get opened and devoured by all in the office or squad. Yesterday I ate a little pack of pringles for a snack. The mail is good in Iraq, every once in a while it gets goofy. It took three weeks for a letter to go 100 miles within Iraq.

Your Niece's Address?
If you send me her address, I'l post a box of edibles for the MP's too. They deserve it!

Heck by the time I revisited this thread (tonight after midnight) , she's been home now for a bit, both her mom & dad are walking on air that she came home safe & sound...............She's already enrolled in UMKC & doing fine................ but her fiancé has just been diagnosed with a cancer................so we need prayers for him though............ a very nice young man in his late 20's...........
This we do know.......... prayers for healing work, when asked Of Him according to His Will, in the Name of His Son ............ I'm proof of that twice........I just don't understand how an atheist or agnostic can cope with severe health issues in one's family............ or other things that we need His Help & serenity to cope with............ I sure pity them.
My lung cancer returned in early 2013, after being in remission since Aug of 2000, good doctors, good nurses, good medicines, treatments & prayer asking for the help of the Good Lord..............
I had 3 major chest surgeries in 2013, stating Apr 17th...... spent the next 6 1/2 weeks in the Cardio Intensive Care Unit at the University of Missouri medical Center in Columbia, Mo.,,,,, as I kept coding. Then 5 smaller surg procedures dealing with cleaning/maintaining my Clagett's window in my chest where my right lung used to be..... as it filled in with healthy tissue.

I believe anything going to our men and woman serving overseas should be a top priority.
