Default Do "Double Stamped/Stampings" increase Value of the Gun?

My FFL told me that Double Stamped S&W's are worth alot more money sometimes increasing the guns value another 100%.

IS this true?

I have a S&W 640-3, its a .357 with internal lock. Model number 640-3 is the double stamped portion of the gun.

I would sell it to your FFL for another 50% and be happy

Seriously, there have been numerous double stamps on guns over the years and from what I've seen, they bring no premium.

Generally only in the minds of some dealers looking to sell S&W handguns with double-stamped model numbers.

IMO, it's strictly a revenue-enhancement thing.

Not worth a penny more to anyone I know of. It's a dealer sales pitch.

It sometimes seems that S&W makes more mistakes than it doesn't. Stamping errors are common. No premium. Might even detract from the value, depending.

To a niche collector of factory mistakes it might bring a small premium (5% or so)
