Default What's a decent price for a 629 Mountain Gun?

I guy who's bought a couple guns from me has a 629 Mountain Gun with all the box and stuff for sale, asking $500. He says this one has the IL, is this a late run? What think you all?

I would say $500 is a fair price. Here in Michigan I have seen used IL 686s for $525.

I went a looked at the the gun. It's a 629-6 Mountain Gun 4" obviously that looks to be unfired in the case with papers, spent shell and all. Being a -6 it has MIM hammer and trigger and the dreaded IL. I have never owned a gun with the IL, but hey, there's a first time for everything. Lock-up, timing and everything is excellent on this gun. Hmmmmm, sleep on it, more news to follow.

The 629 Mountain Gun is my absolute favorite firearm. I've got one of the first edition, a 629-2 that was called the Mountain "Revolver" although it isn't marked that way at all. I've had it for a long time, since the early to mid 90's sometime. I think I paid $400 for it even then.

It's such a versatile gun in a very versatile caliber. I limit the 629-2 to mid range loads these days, a 240 grain Keith bullet at about 1000 fps.

I liked the first one so much that I bought a 629-5 Mountain Gun as a spare. It has the endurance package and can handle the heavy loads a bit better. I bought this one about 3 years ago, and gladly paid $600 for it used.

I put a Crimson Trace laser grip on it and took a wild hog with it a couple of years ago. My son used it last month to kill a 185# boar. It's quite a combination for hunting hogs up close.

I was at Cabela's yesterday, noticed that they have new 629 Mountain Guns, it's called the "Outfitter Series" or some such thing now. Price tag said $829.

Dick, I found one of the dash 6 Mountain guns the first of last year.I really like mine, no problems at all. $500 is not a bad price.

I got back with the guy this morning and left five Franklins on the table and brought her home. In every way the gun looks like it left the factory yesterday instead of 1994. This is one beaufiful big bore. Thanks for all the comments.

I see that all these remarks are from 2010. I just pickup up a 629 mountain gun with box for $689. Does sound OK?

From what I've learned about them since, you didn't overpay.
