Another L frame question if you experts don't mind.

Was the 586/686 or any other L framed gun for that matter, made in full target attire with front Patridge sight, extra wide target trigger and hammer and a 6" barrel?

I have seen L frame guns with the target trigger but never with a target hammer.

I would be curious to know if anyone has one. I didn't think that they even made a target hammer for the L frame.

I had even thought about having one custom made. I think that a 686 with the wide target hammer and serrated target trigger would be very nice.

Regards,

Chuck

Standard hammer, target trigger (case hardened), and patridge front sight. This is an early 686 no dash, S/N AAF66XX. Shipped in 1982. Still one of my most accurate revolvers.

Meee tooo Chuck, that's why I started this thread.

I have a AAA9xxx serial number 586 with Patridge sight. I bought it new when they first came out. Smooth trigger and semi target hammer. Not the full 1/2" wide on found on .44 magnums. I don't recall seeing a full target trigger on an L frame, but I would'nt rule it out.

You know several months ago I saw on G/A or G/B a 586 the guys was selling he said it was from the P/C, patridge sights, double crane lock,it had different rollstamp on the barrel, like etching, man it was beautiful, 800.00 or so I was tempted, I figured it was a RSR or Lew Horton offering anyone know what it was ,I was unable to find in the standard catalog. Yes you could get TT TH in a 586 (don't know about the 686 though). I have a NIB 586, 6", serrated TT, TH but with RR WO sights.

My 646 has a target hammer and not really sure which trigger, trigger is a little over 1/4" wide, so don't know which trigger that is.

Back in the late 80's IS&W was pushing a custom order program. I ordered a 686 with target hammer, target trigger, 8 3/8" barrell and 4 position adjustable front sight. What a fine gun. Had to sell for $ to pay medical bills. Miss that gun and have not been able to find one like it.

i have a 586 no dash with 8 3/8 bbl that has full target options, so they were available. at one time numrich had target hammers for 686 guns. don't know if they still do.
