TK Custom sells chamber inserts allowing one to fire .22lr from a .45ACP/Auto rim revolver. Apparently, the bullets never touch the barrel wall.
Does anyone have experience with these? If so,what are your impressions. At first glance, I'm a bit incredulous, but I'd like to be wrong, given how pricey ammunition is these days. Thanks!
I received a set last week. I ordered them as a novelty for my birthday. While I haven't had them to the range yet, they are steel and appear to be well made with perhaps a half inch of rifling. I expect accuracy to be comparable to a NAA mini revo only with better sights. My one concern is what effect their use may have on a firing pin that is intended for a centerfire. I may get them to the range this weekend. I'll let you know how they work.
This sort of thing is not new. I have had a set in 45 Long Colt for 15 or 20 years.
I had always used them for trigger practice at home. I have an old 22 bullet trap from Outers I think. Easy enough to make your own trap if you want to shoot in the garage or basement.
