I just joined today, brousing posts, and saw mention of a recall on 624's, something about cylinders. Can someone enlighten me?

A small number of 624's and 629's cylinders that were made with a bad run of steel. If the box has a Red "C" in a circle, the handgun has been examined and found OK.

Otherwise, contact S&W and they will send you a mailing label to send the revolver back to them for examination.

There is a caveat - there are no more cylinders for 624's and if they find a bad one, they won't send it back. I understand they will give you a choice of a replacement revolver - it just won't be a 624.

If you call Smith, have the serial number at hand. They can tell if it falls within the suspect serial number range.

Found that 4-page thread about the recall. I just e-mailed S&W as I believe my SN is in the bad range. Hopefully they'll reply.

Call S&W and give hem the serail niumber of your 624 - they will let you know immediately if it is subject to the recall.

Would it be possible to post the serial number range? I have #AHB 5xxx. Haven't shot it much, but never any problems. If S@W won't send it back there's no way they're going to get mine. I really like that revolver.

AW, You might get a brand new 629 with a LOCK on it if your gun fails ! ! !

I too have a 624 in 3" form and a real nice shooter to boot, But when I bought mine it came with a letter from the factory giving the final okaydokay,,,,,
If you are worried, Find a cylinder from a model 24 or 29 and swap them onto the gun.
