Default Pocket Carry - 38, 638, 49, 649??

What do you guys think? I like the idea of a steel gun better and I'm assuming that's the difference correct? What's about the right money to pay for a 649 in good condition?

What do you guys prefer?

Oh and can you shoot +p in the steel versions? Or is it all depending on how they are marked? Would you consider a centennial or hammered gun over any of these?

Default All good choices,

so it's hard to go wrong. I pocket carry this 649-3 if I have my 511's or jeans on.

The alloy guns will carry easier, no doubt about it. I chose the 649-3 because I wanted to carry .357, and the weight is a help with shooting +P or magnum ammo.

Any postwar gun is ok with +P as far as I know.

I like the Bodyguards, but not all do. I've got a soft spot for the Centennials as well, but just like the humpbacks better for some reason.

Good Luck!

all good choices. I have the 638 and it carries quite nicely in a pocket.

Sir, it kinda depends on the pockets in question. In light clothing, like lightweight hiking shorts or even Dockers(r), a steel gun is a bit much. In jeans, a steel gun is fine. Look at what you wear most often and go from there.

The steel guns are more pleasant to shoot, though.

Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.

Default Pocket Carry?

That is all about weight. Hence, I 'carry' a 342. It weighs as close to nothing as any handgun ever made. When it is in the front pocket of my Levi's, the only thing I notice...and that is when sitting, is the bulk.

The 'Question' is carry.... the answer is a 300 series Smith revolver in 38 special. More than capable if the user does his job.

Thanks for all the info! I really like the idea of the humpbacks because they are snag proof and you can shoot single action. Another reason I am considering a steel gun is the pleasure of shooting it. I've got a ruger lcp I can carry in my slacks but for toating in my coat pocket, with jeans etc I think a revolver would be nice and fun to shoot. Plus I just want another gun lol.

The 342 looks like a great gun but they are discontined and my dumb***** missed the auction this morning on GB.

Decisions decisions!

I prefer the model 640 Centennial in .38 Special, easy to carry and easy to shoot with any kind of ammo.
