Unusual Stainless J frame picture thread. A 631 and 650 found.
During the 80s' and 90s' Smith and Wesson made some unusual
little E frames. The model 60-1 comes to mind ,with its funny
shark-fin front sight. My 60-4 looks like a baby 686,and shoots like
one too.
Here are two more that are not often seen.
A model 631 , 2" fixed sight. One of 190 made in early 1990.
Product code 103664. 22oz.
And a model 650 ,3" 22 Magnum service kit gun stainless.
product code 103802 produced about 1984
Let's see all your unusual E and J frame revolvers from 1980 to the present.
Have a great day , Allen Frame

That's an awesome little six shot .32 snub! Why didn't they make more of these? Too little demand, or they just didn't want to do it? If this were a regular production item I'd buy one without a second thought. The .32 H&R Magnum has always been a neat and effective little cartridge, especially in a package like that.

I have owned many of these through the years, the last was a 4 inch kit gun in .32 Mag. I have never heard of the term E frame, these are all J frame guns...

The stainless J frame guns are referred to by the FActory ,as E frames.
Just as stainless K frame size is referred to as F frames.
And the stainless L frame is a H frame.
And the stainless N frame is designated as a G frame.
Bottom of page 170 Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson 3rd.ed.
Not trying to be controvertial ,just correct.

I'm not sure I would call this one "unusual" but I COULD call it "not common". At any rate, it is a 631 4" barreled "Kit Gun" (.32 H&R Magnum). It is a VERY useful field pistol and has taken it's share of bunny wabbits and grouse. Here it is, fresh from the range:

Not so unusual I guess, but looking around, I don't see as many of the 3" barrel 640. But these above are nice!

Me Too!!
I love the looks of the 3" Centennials & there's not as many of them as the 2"ers for sure, I'd also love to have a 3" 940, BTW there's two of them on Gunbroker now.. I can't spend $1000 on a $500 gun though..
Great Thread & sweet looking guns

A pic of more unusual J frames!
Keeping with the original post of unusual J frames, here are a few!
Hey Allen Frame, if you ever sell the 631 please drop me an email? That is one of the holes in my J frame collection.

Not stainless, but the 36-6 was a 1980's "gun of the month" short run.

Very cool stuff! I had a chance to buy a 650 5 years ago for $350 and stupidly passed on it. I have kicked myself every since. The last one I saw down here they wanted $800 for!!

Awesome - I just picked up a 60-4 (its stainless brother) and l love it -- just a neat little kit gun. I put checkered 'banana' grips on mine - kind of like a mini-Bisley-gripped M60!
