Default A simple(ton?) question.

Fellows, I hate to get simple on you, but here goes.
A buddy and I got into the dry firing discussion again.
So what's the real poop? Can a 29-3 be dry fired without damaging the gun, or not?

Dry fire away - you won't hurt the gun.

There are many opinions on this subject. Mine is I never dry fire any weapon unless I have just finished cleaning and I am checking for function. If you want to dry fire, get some snap caps.

This is from S&W web site Customer Support in the FAQ's - about a qt of the way down on the page. Other than the 22 cal firearms listed, it's OK to dryfire (per the manufacturer)

I sure do dry fire my Smiths. Mostly my K-38s for double action practice for
competition.
Do remember , the more you dry fire ,the more pronounced the turn line.

Regards , Allen Frame

Dry fire away!! Just don't dry fire a 22RF, that will hurt your gun. Dry firing is an excellent way to improve your shooting skills. Don
