Smile .41 Magnum Jovino Effector X 2

I just tripled the number of .41 snubbies in my collection
A local S&W collector wanted my S&W 646 and thought his two .41 Magnum Effectors would be a good addition to my .41 collection.
He offered an even up trade, my 646 for his 57 and 657 Effectors. After I thought about it for a nanosecond I said "Yep, that'll work"

The Model 57 has been ported by Mag-na-port.
I'm not sure of the who, what or why for the test target. The date on it is after the Jovino invoice date and before the Mag-na-port invoice date.

The Model 657 did not come with any papers supporting its pedigree.
The box label though does have a silver "Effector" sticker and the dealer inventory number A22-6118, uses the same A22 prefix used on the Model 57 invoice.

very cool snubbies. Now you'll have to think about a rig for carrying both at the same time (to balance you out and all).

Not quite stealing but..........

....... the revolvers did come packed in a box with a dozen assorted S&W patches, 3 S&W belt buckles, gold K-22 box, mahogany presntation case with Hostile scene on lid and a S&W poker chip set.

Trying out some wood stocks on my Effectors. I picked up a set of Mustang and Nills Griffe K frame round butt stocks. Since the Effectors
are N square butt frames converted to K frame round butt they are not a "drop in" fit for K frame round butt stocks.
After some filing, chiseling and sanding, mostly around the top at the back of the frame, the Mustangs fit the 657 perfectly, but I took a little too much off the Nills on the 57, so I have a little gap between the frame/backstrap and the inside top of the stocks. Not to worry though, I think I will be taking the wood down to expose the backstrap, as the reach to the trigger for double action shooting is too long with all that wood covering the backstrap.

Very nice looking revolver!

I remember buying several firearms from John Jovino including several folding stock Mini-14's that a year later were "outlawed" and lucky for me I said the Mini's were out of state. A friend had one and he ignored the letter from the Firearms Control Board. A month later 6 police officers showed up at his home at just took his Mini-14. They said if the letter was sent registered mail he would be arrested. Some much for registration.

Oh yeah, but the eye candy is just as good today as it was when it was posted four years ago tomorrow!

I'll have a Jovino Effector one day, although it may take a long time. In the mean time I keep saving my nickels and dimes and shooting the .41s I already have.

You are going to have to fight me off of any 41 Mag Jovino or Behlert......I just recently found a 44 Mag Jovino Effector (629 no dash). I found a 25-5 Jovino for my dad a few months back and he got to shoot it a few weeks ago. The 45 Colt is really nice to shoot.

The Jovino 629 that I found is my first 44 magnum.....i don't even have any 44 mag ammo for it.....I guess that I can make due with some 44 special that I have lying around.....

Good luck in your search!

Default Jovino revolvers

Greetings. I am wondering if anyone can give me an idea what a fair market price would be for a well cared for S&W Jovino in a 41 or 44 magnum caliber. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum

The run of Jovino modified guns was short lived, so they are a limited commodity, and that brings their prices above standard production values. There are two generally accepted 'runs' of Jovino snubbies. The early version with no forward lock in the ejector rod housing, and the later run that utilized the S&W locking device for the ejector rod.

Condition is everything, but there are some calibers that are not often seen. The 41 Mag, 45 Colt, and 357 Mag are bringing extraordinary prices these days. You can expect to pay well over $1000 in an auction setting. Again, condition is everything, but documentation is also very important for unmarked models (as several other gunsmiths did similar modifications). The 'EFFECTOR' marked models are the only editions that I am aware of that are marked. A factory letter or other official documentation will go a long way to helping raise the value. Of course, if it comes with the original box and papers the value will increase.

Good luck.
