Bought a 64-3 3". Need some advise on grips and holsters.
I picked up a clean 64-3 3" barrel at the gun show this past weekend. I am looking to possibly carry this every now and then. I need some recommendations on grips and holsters. Right now I am leaning towards Hogue Bantam grips. Don't have any ideas on a holster yet. Thanks for your ideas.

Post a pic. That way we can see whether the grips you now have on need to be changed. Aw heck. I just want to see a pic of the weapon.

It currently doesn't have any grips on it. It had Pachmyer grips from a square butt gun on it. Needless to say they didn't fit very well. So I took them off.

I bought the same pistol with the same barrel length last Christmas. It came with Pachmayr rubber grips which I replaced with stock magna grips and a Tyler T-grip adapter until I could afford a set of Crimson Trace laser grips for it. As far as holsters, I've carried it in a Ken Null shoulder holster (one of the plastic ones - SMZ?) and in a DeSantis Speed Master on the belt - OWB - very comfortable and it holds the piece close to your body. Sorry, but my camera and computer don't get along, so I can't post any photos at this point. If I can figure out what the incompatibility issues are, I'll post pictures later.
Best of luck,
Dave

Hideout grips are good. They aren't the prettiest but they feel great and don't grab you clothes. It is hard to wrong with a T Grip too. For an affordable holster a JIT Slide isn't bad.

I like this grip combo the best of several I tried. As to holsters, most of the open bottom versions for 2.5" work fine, and there are vintage 3" holsters available periodically on ebay. I'm sure Bell Charter Oak would make you something, and it seems like D.M. Bullard already does. Check around and I'm sure you can find something.

Grips
My favorite grips for K frame round butted revolvers are the Uncle Mike's/Butler Creek boot grips. I know they aren't currently being produced but they can still be found. Fairly cheap as well. As for holsters, my most used one is the Bianchi Black Widow as I can use it for various revolvers having different length barrells.

My #64 wears Pachmayrs and I carry it in a PWL belt holster or a Bianchi X15 shoulder holster. One day it and my #63 will wear stags by Patrick Grashorn.

Relatively few volume producers offer holsters for the 3" models, and these can be difficult to find.
I make several models for your revolver. You are invited to my website.

UPDATE: 64-3 3" with photos
Hotrodtba,
The computer gods were smiling on me today and I was able to upload some photos of my 64-3 with 3.0 inch barrel and Crimson Trace grips. The holsters are my DeSantis Speed Master and a very nice Speed Safety holster with basket weave and a thumb break retention strap. The speed loader holder is by Bianchi - I think they have been discontinued. Both holsters have an open muzzle so they can hold longer barreled pistols.
Best of luck,
Dave

I just received a custom made pancake holster from lobogunleather and I recommend them highly.
The holster I got was made for a 686 3" and is a perfect fit !!! The order (holster and belt) took about 3 to 3.5 weeks for it to arrive at my door.
Prices are very reasonable also.

hotrodtba,
How do you plan on carrying your K frame? IWB, OWB, shoulder holster? I've owned several 3" K frames over the years and settled on the Pac. Grippers (if I remember correctly). For canoeing or outdoors I used a vertical shoulder rig made by Smith and Wesson years ago. For running around town open carry had a Unlce Mikes nylon holster with thumb break and forgot who made my leather OWB holster, sorry. From what I've heard, you really should check out LoboGunLeather.

For IWB carry I use a Milt Sparks VMII for my 65-3 3". They make for a great combo.

I have a set of CT grips on my beretta 92, but on a revolver, they just don't seem right. Putting something so high tech on the classic lines of a revolver just ruin the whole thing for me. It would be like putting a CD player and an IPOD in a 57 Chevy. Just can't do it.

I really like Ahrends round butt grips on fixed sight K Frames. I prefer them with finger grooves because they just happen to fit my hand right -- but you can get them either way.

Magnas and a T-grip. I put silverblack aftermarket (copy) diamond magna stocks on mine with a brass Tyler T-grip. The magna copies that are sold on Gunbroker by seller "maglady" are super high quality. I put my numbers-matched S&W stocks up with the boxes for safe-keeping and find that her copies look better than the "official" stocks from S&W.

These are also my favorites and I need another K frame set.
Mine get carried and shot and I like the control over the pretty, with warm loads.
