What is a Model 27 Performance Center worth?
My local shop has two NIB model 27 pc's on sale for $699 each. One has what looks to be the 3 1/2" barrel and the other looks to have a 5" barrel. They are both blued finish and well, as I said brand new. They both look to be very sharp, but I cannot find much info on them, and what I can find has them priced significantly higher then what they are marked. I kind of get the feeling that they have been sitting around for a long time in the shop so they just want them gone. Would either of these be a good buy?
Thanks

I'd take the five-incher, if it were me; they do hold eight rounds of .357, right? I'm thinking they're about three hundred bucks under what either would go for where I live.

Yes, they are both 8 shot. They both have very smooth triggers as well, they felt great. This is the only link that I have found that has pictures of them.

My goodness, this would be my third handgun in as many months, my wife is getting a little pissed......
G27 in March, 642 PowerPort-Pro in April, and maybe a Model 27PC in May. And I keep telling myself that I am going to wait on a nice 1911. Well, they do have a couple of Springfield Trophy Match's for $1100 as well.

A little searching can find a real Model 27 in that price range.

In my opinion, a bargain.A PC gun for less than the standard current production 27.I have the five incher and it's quite a nice gun.

Tell her it's either guns or lap dances-she'll settle down.

That is a GREAT price. Only 350 of each of those has been produced.
8 shot model 27s have only been produced in 6 variations since their introduction in 2000. Her is one of each variation.
If you are not interested in both of them, E-mail me the info and I will buy the other one no mater which barrel length you decide not to buy.

Sell the G27 and buy the model 27 Smith and Wesson.
No brainer for me.
Good luck with the wife.

Well I went ahead and bought the 3.5" one, mainly because the 5" had three little nicks in it from being handled I guess. I can deal with me putting a little ding or scratch, but I did not want to buy one new like that even if it is a good deal.
Anyway for $699.99 I figured it was worth it, and it shoots great. I do have a question or two for those who have one already. I have noticed that the trigger on it is not quite as smooth as my 642 PowerPort. It is lighter, but not as buttery smooth which suprised me seeing as how it is a PC gun. Now that is not to say that it is rough or bad, just that my 642 PP is better. The Model 27-8 is still one up on a box stock 27. My question is will it get better by working it in some? I have only pulled the trigger 100 or so times, 76 of which were done while firing the gun. I bought some snap caps (which of course only come 6 to a package) and I need to clean and oil it.
I will say that it is impressivly accurate and I like it. I might put the targe style grips on it for now as they are more comfortable to shoot, and yes I am going to shoot it. Might even carry it, not sure yet. I figure that the price I bought it for the value can go nowhere but stable or up, even if fired so long as I take care of it. I just do not have much use for a gun that I am not going to shoot.
Might have to think about picking up the 5" as well, the have it priced at $729.99, but will not ship weapons out, not even to other dealers. Pretty neat revolver.
Well after cleaning and oiling the 27 the trigger is much better, I am guessing that it was just dry. I know it has been sitting at the gun shop for quite some time. Just as smooth as the 642, but a LOT lighter pull. Will be shooting it again next weekend, need to start loading some 38 and 357.

27-8
What you have is a limited run gun made for Lew Horton called the "New Registered Magnum" Came out in blue steel in 3 1/2 in barrel and a Target Model in a 5 inch barrel. I did what you did purchased the 3 1/2 barrel gun first had buyer's regret and went back for the 5 inch gun. I got to pick my serial numbers. One month later my dealer called and told me that since my serial #'s were under 100 I had first shot at the nickle versions coming out in the spring. These were not listed at all both by S&W or Lew Horton. Now I have four with matching #'s. I have an old 27-2 with a 3 1/2 inch barrel that I use as a range gun. What is different about these guns is they are 8 shot and the PC logo is on one side and the large S&W logo on the other. Also came with PC aluminum cases. Most PC guns just have the PC logo.
