When I put aftermarket grips on my 40-1 I had to custom fit them. All it took was a Dremel to remove a small bit of material from the inside half moon on each side. After that they fit like a champ.

Check this site out. The Executioner a member of this forum will make you some nice grips for your gun. I think they would look good. Don

I spoke to Mr. Grashorn last week about making a set of Stags for my M40 and he said he couldn't because he didn't have a M40 frame. Stated he could make the stags but he would need me to ship the firearm to him.
Bottom Line, I purchased a set from a forum member and shipped them to Mr. Grashorn for medallion install. I think I'll let him tweek'em a little too.

I concur.
It brings back a touch nostalgia, in more ways than one.

I purchased a set of Eagle Grips for my model 42. They didn't fit. I had to do some agressive wood removal with a small file, but now they fit great. I don't know if the 42 grip frame is different from the 40, or if the older 40/42's are different than the newly released ones. Or perhaps I just got a bad set from Eagle. Bottom line is that I am happy with the grips now. They are MUCH more comfortable than the original smooth magna grips. I think that they look better, too.

Very nice 42, girvin02. I dig the stocks, too.
Do they offer those in smooth finish and do the stocks cover the bottom part of the frame/grip handle or expose it like the factory stocks .?

No, I do not think that they are available with smooth finish (for the 40/42). At least they don't advertise them on their website. These do not cover the bottom of the grip, as shown in this picture:
