Default 315NG ?

Is Smith & Wesson not making the 315NG any more?
If so any one out here with experience with one. Just looked at new catalog and it wasn't in there. Wouldn't ya know just when I had made up my mind it would be a great CCW.
Thanks,
tbird

Several months ago I decided the same thing, but could not find one locally. I called Smith and they verified that the 315 was out of production.

I finally found one on another forum, and have about 500 rounds fired. My only observation is that the combination of the light weight and a really heavy trigger pull made it very difficult to shoot accurately. A basic trigger job got that to 8 lbs. and it is now it a very satisfactory self defense gun. To me, that means everything in the A zone at 10 yds and anywhere on the silhoutte at 25 yds free hand. (My 625 had different requirements )

If you can find one, you won't be disappointed

Yes, the 315NG was only produced for a year. I was told by SW that it was not a stellar seller and most people opt for the 386NG. Personally I compared the 686+ 2.5" with the 386NG and felt the trigger was much better on the 686, also better control with the extra weight. I like the option of actually using the .357 rd with some comfort. I know that the 686plus is a HOT seller.

I bought a NIB 315NG earlier this year and really took to it right out of the box. Has everything: solid K frame, excellent sight system, decent weight/good balance in the hand. I don't carry it. Strictly my "night guard" (bedside) gun. I enjoy shooting it, haven't had any issues at all. Cleaning is a snap with Hoppe's Elite.

Buds has NIB 315s in stock but miscategorized in the pistols section!

I bought mine in Sept. '08 from Bud's, and have lost count of rounds fired somewhere near the 1500 round mark. No problems of any type, it just keeps getting smoother. I do a lot of desert exploring (including mines, etc.) and the light weight of the 315NG fits this niche perfectly. First 2 rounds are snake shot and the rest are hand loads of +P pressure levels. It is a pleasure to carry, and shows very little wear for where it has been. I am now spoiled by the sights, and the accuracy that this gun provides; I have total faith in this gun, as it is the one I carry most, and I have many to pick from.
It feels right and does its job with no problems.

I actually got a used (nearly 100%) from Bud's a month ago and have shot about 250 rounds through it. Snuck in a little woods and mountain hiking too. I completely agree with Adawi's assessment, which is over a lot longer time span, and made me feel pretty good to read. Good gun.
