WOOD STOCK QUESTION?
I've got a "round butt" 4" M66-4 with the stock rubber grips. I like those and they are comfortable, but nice wood grips just really "make" a revolver. I'd like to put on a set of nice wood target grips. I looked on ebay and mostly found "square butt" stocks. Will the square butts work on a round butt?
If not, are round butt target stocks even available?
Any of you want to sell a set?
Thanks...

Take a look at Ahrends site Ahrends Grips : Home They have a round to square "retro target" and do great work and can help if you call. A search here will also pull up many pictures of Ahrends, (Craig) Spegel's and various others. Lots to choose from.

The factory K frame "banana" or Combat stocks may be a good alternative.

Actually, square butt target stocks will fit onto a round butt frame. The front strap is covered, so no problem there. On the back strap, the frame begins to curve back towards the front of the gun on a round butt gun, while the backstrap on a square butt doesn't, so if you use square butt stocks with an open backstrap on a round butt gun, there will be a gap at the bottom of the grip strap.
The gap may bother your hand or your eyes.
If the stocks you want to use cover the rear grip strap of the frame all the way, square butt stocks will work just fine.

Below are two Ahrends 'retro target' grips in cocobolo. The K/L frame size on my 617 were ordered unfinished. A homebrew penetrating oil/resin finish darkened them while the regular Ahrends finish on the N-frame 627 Pro's grips stayed 'bright'. I love the feel and look.
Both grips fit roundbutt frames. The DS-10 speedloader works great with the x10 617 and those grips, as do the x8 moonclips with the 627. They run $60 + $6 s/h from Ahrends Grips.

What you need are "conversion" stocks - they have the same outer dimensions as the square butt stocks, but are inletted for the round butt frame. I have several pairs - if you're interested, send me a PM and I'll send pictures .......
