I have been wondering the same thing. Some of them have the wood stocks which is probably part of it but the prices seem still a little bit to high.

Because they can.

Not trying to be smart, but a well run, sophisticated businesses like I suspect S&W is sells their product/services at the highest price the market will allow. Appaerntly there are enough people willing to pay X for them.

I had heard the same thing, but didn't know if it really was the case.

Ironically, these little snubbies are some of the hardest mainstream guns to shoot well... especially loaded up with full power defensive ammo. Short sight radius, tiny sights, long trigger pull, light weight... yet by calling them LadySmith, you're basically saying they are perfect for women... why? Because they're "cute" and small with a fashionable wood grip?

Because it is a "lady". I've never met one that wasn't expensive.

Maybe in the revolvers. I like the "Ladysmith" 39 (whatever number that is) a lot.

I always thought the same thing. My dad bought my mom a S&W 642 (no dash) years back when I was a kid. She still has it as her home defense gun. I have been telling them for years that this is not a very good gun for her. She does not practice much with it at all. Some gunshop convinced them it was a good choice for a woman.

I finally convinced my dad last weekend when I had him shoot my 4" 66 next to my 642. He now agrees....

I think women do see it with the wood grips and that it is small and think it is perfect.

This. Anything involving a woman will always cost you more.

+1

When I think of what I've spent on women in the past, the fact that they might have to pay an extra $100 seems almost like justice to me
