need advice for decent scope mounts and scope for 460S&W XVR 8 1/2inch
Hi there everyone
I have a 460 S&W revolver in standard 8 1/2 inch barrel , Im starting in metallic sillouhette comps out to 100 & 200 metres.
Im just after some way to either have QD mounts so I can use standard sights at other times or do I have to remove the rear? sight permanently .
I was unsure of optics and mounts as Ive never used them on my own Handguns. A mate of mine had a 2-7 vari on his freedom arms 45-70 seemed ok.Any suggestions?
Leupold scopes? successes with what your using? Red dot scopes?? anyone

scope options
I have a burris fastfire II on my 500S&W they are the only manufacturer that said their scope would handle the recoil of the 500.
it is mounted on a weigand combat mount, but yes you have to remove the rear sight.
others may work as well but I haven't heard much.

I bought the 500 for whitetail deer here in indiana, I know that it is a lot of gun for that but I enjoyed hunting with my 44mag. and when I turned 50 that was my best excuse to buy the 50 cal. now my eyes are getting to where I have trouble focusing on both sights at the same time. I have put the burris on.
I have it mounted but haven't had time on the range yet to work with it much.

I have Warner rings with a 2X Leupold pistol scope. Mounted on a 6 1/2 Performance Center 460. The scope hasn't moved a fraction in 4 years, with 9 whitetails tagged.

same here on my 460 XVR. I tried a lesser scope on my 8-3/8" 686. It was terrible. After a few rounds, I took it off and replaced it with the same 2x7 burris that is on my 460.

I use a leupold vx3 on my 460 XVR 14" barrel and I can hammer 200 yrds but it takes effort and patience. And I use extreme leupold rings. Love it and works great. Read a lot of bad things about the Burris and that made me go to leupold. Plus it's a leupold. Lol.
