Model 686-nothing. Four inch barrel. "A.T.F Texas" worth $525.00?
A commemorative model. Mechanically in great condition. Is this in the ballpark price wise? Thanks for any input. c good

In northern California there would be a stampede for that gun/price. I just like the old guns with forged parts, so if it is tight mechanically, I would go for it. At the risk of sounding old, they don't make them like that any more.

Unless it's unfired in it's original box it's really not worth any premium over a like 686. At $525 it's at the upper end of used 686s' around here, but as they say location, location, location.

In kali, it's illegal to import any older gun so the ones that are here carry quite a premium. I have paid nearly new price for a like new used model 66 without lock and with chromed forged parts. They are better than new guns IMHO so they are worth more.

2nd on that. I am frequently shocked at the low prices people on the board are buying their S&Ws. Two things; the dollar goes a lot further in many parts of the US than it does here in San Francisco/Bay Area/California. Second, since we can't import guns that aren't on the roster, we have to fight amonst ourselves for the pre-lock goodies.

686 No Dash = $525 is a reasonable price.
A.T.F = Worthless.

IMHO that's a good price if it's a nice gun. ''ATF Texas'' adds a little glamor/mystique but no monetary value.........

Is that recent? I looked into moving to CA around 10 years ago, and at that time, I could bring my guns (most of them anyway...not the evil rifles or >10rd magazines), but there was something like an $8 import/registration tax per handgun.
