Just CNC me out a new triple lock. Hell once the program is written they could produce all they need of any model. No need to hunt for that classic model anymore, just order a new one. Ain't the digital world great!

K, .38, stainless, 3", tapered barrel with ejector shroud, roundbutt, forged parts, hammer-mounted firing pin
Sort of like a little brother to a 4" 624...

Just off the top of my head...
Bring back the no-dash 640 (stainless steel .38) with the 340M&P sights (U-notch rear with XS Big Dot tritium front), a carry bevel package (including radiusing the edges and corners of the trigger), chamfered chamber mouths, and no internal lock or MIM parts. Duty/carry trigger job with full-power springs. Finished in a satin black DLC coating, like Ion Bond. Custom-fitted Spegel presentation grade smooth cocobolo Centennial boot grips.
I'd also like to see a no-lock, non-MIM 396 Night Guard with a 3" barrel, finished in a satin black DLC coating like Ion Bond, and custom-fitted with a set of Ahrends smooth boot grips in tung oil-finished maple. It will also have a duty/carry trigger job with full-power springs, chamfered chamber mouths and a carry bevel package like the 640 mentioned above. It would have a bobbed/DAO hammer.
I'd finish off with a new take on the 2" Model 12. It would, of course, be no-lock and non-MIM, with a +P-rated alloy frame (like the current 642/442). It would be a round-butt model with the same features as the 640 mentioned above. It would also be manufactured to standard K-frame specs for parts interchangeability. It would be fitted with Ahrends grips like the 396 mentioned above. It would also have a bobbed/DAO hammer.
One more...
An authentic .44 Hand Ejector 3rd Model, nickel-plated. It will be fitted with ivory grips (or a high-quality synthetic substitute) scrimshawed with the number "13" on one side and a black cat on the other. It will be the Jelly Bryce model.

a 3.5 inch 627 8 shot 357 Magnum checkered top trap, rear sight, rib and ramp. Also checker the drum on the rear of the rear sight. Bright polish stainless, full action job, slick double action, single action that breaks like glass with no perceptible movement due to over travel screw. Moon clip capable.
Same thing in a 657 7 shot 5 inch barrel.
Same thing in a 6 shot 44 Magnum 6.5 inch.
Same thing in a 6 shot 4 inch barrel 45 ACP with the shortned cylinder like the pervious Camfour model.
Same gun in blue steel with an 8 3/8 barrel with the shortned cylinder designed for 8 rounds of 38 Special Wadcutter. The barrel should be a lighter untapered like the old K-38 with no enclosed ejector rod. It should have both the front latch for the ejector rod and the ball detent locking system.
The same blue gun with a 3 inch full underlug barrel in 327 Federal Magnum with a 10 shot cylinder.
Last but not least, a stainless K frame 2.5 inch with a 4 shot cloverleaf cylinder in 460 Smith & Wesson. The ultimate bear country backup.

Since they can make an 8-shot .357 Magnum on the N Frame. I would like to see a 10-Shot .44 Magnum on the X Frame.

A matched pair of L Frames, both 5 inch, with proportional (to the L frame) but M66/19 profile barrels HOWEVER I would want one 686/586 and one 681/581configuration most probably round butts but I would not be heart broken with square butts either...

What if?
L frame round butt 5" half lug 5-shot .41 Mag, using high strength steel for frame and barrel.
N frame round butt 5" no lug [a la 1917] alloy frame 6-shot .44 Special.
K frame round butt 3.5" half lug 10-shot alloy frame .22 LR.
All no lock, no MIM, stainless/stainless-look hard chrome, electroless nickel .
Thanks,
Dyson

I always wanted a stainless m-58 chambered in .44 mag. I have the 2 1/2 and 3inch, just figured a 4 inch would look nice too.

My income could never support such a what if. But I do dream of the day that a vending machine can CNC to such a tolerance that you could punch buttons and your selection in a gun would just drop into the tray at the bottom. Just insert payment and sign for your new gun...

Since you asked;
A 3 1/2" deep blue tapered barrel N frame in 45 Colt also capable of firing
45 A.C.P. using moonclips. Round butt with coke round to square conversion
stocks made of birdseye maple.
All forged, heat treated, and hand fitted ready to rock.
I guess I just dreamed a blued mountain gun with a 3.5 " barrel in 2 calibers.

I like the idea of being able to order a custom built S&W much like we use to be able to order American cars. Well, to some degree you still can but not as many interesting options & variations as we once had.
But, it would only appeal to me when the lock is an option. To me that is a deal breaker.
Much like GM's spyware called OnStar. I've driven Chevy's and GM vehicles all my life. Will not have a new vehicle that can be turned off by remote command or monitor on-board conversations - not negotiable. My next truck will be a Ford or Toyota for the first time in my lifetime. Or, I'll rebuild the clunker I have - sort of like buying a pre-lock S&W. Too bad we can't often find "new in the box" old stock chevys like we do revolvers!

Scandium frame, 2" barrel, on a Safety Hammerless platform (just slightly larger than the .32 Safety, but not as large as the .38), chambered for a new .33 Short Mag cartridge.
How hard could it be?

A K-Frame Centennial in .357 Magnum. Make it the same shape as the J-Frame Centennial, not the way they made the L-Frame "Centennial" as the 296.
And my ultimate carry revolver: An L-Frame, 5 shot Stainless Steel fixed (tritium) sight .41 Magnum. Also offer it in Aluminum/Scandium, should weigh about 22 Oz. A 3" barrel would be good. It would of course not have the lock, and since I'm designing it, lets give it a hammer mounted firing pin, and relieve the right side of the trigger guard (for us right handed shooters). Have nice wood stocks to make it carry-friendly. Oh, yeah, it HAS to have a pinned barrel and recessed cylinder.
Bet they'd sell a million of 'em.

My dream gun is easy, New stainless "K" frame in 32 LONG - six inch barrel - 6 shot.
The other would be a "L" frame six shot 22LR.

Close, but I intentionally omitted an alloy frame.
I forgot to add that my no-lock, forged parts, pin-on-hammer, all stainless, k-frame, roundbutt .38, with 3" tapered barrel and shrouded, full length ejector would have a ramp front blade and adjustable rear sight. Hell, lets put some fine checkering on the frame topstrap. Make it a performance center too.

I think I would have to go with a 696 with a larger/thicker forcing cone, a tritium front dot, and the solid rear sight like the Night Guard models. For me, quite possibly the perfect carry revolver.

How about a K Frame, 3-T's, 8-3/8" non-full lug barrel, in bright mirror polished blue with 3 interchangable cylinders (.32 Long, .32 Magnum, & .327 Magnum.
While they're at it, make me another one with a 6" barrel too.

A set of K-32-20 Masterpieces with 4, 6, and 8 3/8-inch barrels. Hey, why not throw in a 2-inch K-32-20 Combat Masterpiece while we're at it.

Nothing complicated. A case-hardened N-Frame .44 Special with 4" M&P barrel, black-powder cylinder, no IL, P&R w/ SB grip. A S.S. L-Frame 5" w/ SB grip in .357 S&W Magnum, line bored and throated for the hottest possible 158 gr. loads. A SS K-Frame in .327 H&R Magnum (YES!!!) set up like a 14 w/ 4" barrel, SG, TT, TH, WO, RR front sight. A SS K-Frame RB, fixed sight 2" maybe 3" barrel in .327 H&R Mag. A SS K -Frame .22 LR w/ 4" barrel SB, etc., like a 18. A SS K-Frame .22 Mag. set up as a 18. That's not to much to ask for now is it?

oooo! oooo!
an X frame over-under double barrel LeMat with a 10 round .223 cylinder rotating around a single shot .500 mag barrel! it'd go straight to video games!
(..... wondering what's in this coffee .....)

I'm glad they don't I would be headed to the poor farm. But since you asked.
All N Frame, no lock, no MIM, no alloys, hammer mounted firing pin, all P&R.
-.44 Mag 4" Fixed sight SB, non-serrated trigger.
-.44 Special 3.5" Fixed Sight, SB.
-520 (Hopefully for under the collector prices today).
-Heavy Duty 4" & 3.5" Stainless, RB.
And, in my fantasy bankrupt world, Colt would be churning out fresh New Service in blue and stainless. While we're at it let's get Winchester to make the 71 again and then............

I'm thinking retro.... I'd buy one of each of the guns S&W should have made in normal production.... maybe two...
N frames, P&R, no locks, no MIMs, checkered top strap and rib, half under-lug, smooth burl walnut target stocks, in both stainless and original bright blue, in 357, 41, 44, and 45LC/45ACP (convertible), ALL WITH A 5" BARREL......
S&W... If you're listening consider these 8 guns in both finishes to be my firm order...

1) No lock
2) Double Action/Single Action with a bobbed hammer that has the top checkered and has the firing pin on the hammer
3) Aluminum alloy N frame
4) Steel cylinder
5) Round Butt
6) 3" Steel barrel
7) Blued - NOT BLACK, real blued
8) Gold bead on front sight blade
9) Fixed rear sight, not the integral type but the type on the Nightguards (no coloring on the face) but has the face checkered
10) Not a full lug, the tapered one
11) Not a heavy barrel, the tapered one
12) Finger grooved, wooden combat grips with checkering, diamond, S&W emblem and flat on the bottom...not rounded
13) Checkered top strap and back of frame
14) Chambered in .327 Federal Magnum
15) 10 shot cylinder
Bang! That's my dream S&W

K-Frame
Blued
2.5" Barrel
Round Butt
5 Shot
.44 Special
That would do it for me!
No lock, I would guess that goes without saying!

A 22/32 Kit Gun, blue, steel sights, square butt, no lock, 8 or 9 shots (whatever fits.)

A .41 Special on a K-frame. 4 inch preferably. Not sure if the cylinder could be fattened or not.. 6 in the .41 spec would work for me! Being a "special" and not a mag would keep the pressures way down I would think.

I'll play.
- K- or L-frame
- Round butt
- .38/.357
- Fixed sights
- 6" tapered barrel (because I like artillery models)
- old style hammer (though I'm not stuck on this one)
- Optional grips (other than Magnas or those super-size horrors most revolvers feature today - some of us don't have gorilla hands)
- No internal lock (because)
- Finally, oddly, I want a lanyard ring on it. Not a cutout on the backstrap - a proper lanyard ring.
I imagine it to look roughly like the above. It would likely sell all of half a dozen examples, cost somewhere in the neighborhood of four figures, and possibly take S&W one step closer to bankruptcy, so...I'm not holding my breath.
...though if I can get the stars lined up right I might build a one-off model someday.
***
Also, I want a source for pre-war styled grips that doesn't break the bank. Again - short fingers.

Pretty close, but what I would want is a 596 (I like blued steel), square butt, and a 4 inch barrel. Oh, it would have to be engraved like my 696 with my badge on on the right side. Can I have ivory grips too?
Perfect carry revolver? Absolutely!
