Nope, but a 2 1/2" CCW 44 Mag with sights strikes me as odd, why the boot grip and super short barrel then stick huge sights that will snag everything it gets close to is beyond me. It should have been done like a 642, a real CCW handgun, but with S&W one never knows.

Here is my 3" 629-8 Tallo Exclusive, minus the big finger groove combat grips. Love the Pachmayr Decelerator grips. I don't consider this a CCW model, but more like a pack gun or as it was called years ago a kit gun. Or in my case a car gun, for those times I need to stop a Freightliner or griz here in southern Missouri.

I just got mine last week and I love it. I just can't say enough good things about this gun. They really did a good job putting this one together.

I sighted in with W-W .44 Special 240 cowboy loads, and then confirmed my zero with with Buffalo Bore's Heavy .44 Special 255gr Keith style SWC. The gun is super accurate with the Buffalo Bore loads, and recoil wasn't bad at all. Next time out, I'll try their lower recoiling .44 Magnum load to see if I can tolerate a heavy load in it.

The grips aren't as bad as you would think. I brought some rubber Hogues along in case recoil was bad, but I was able to shoot everything with the wood boot grips. I was originally going to get some other grips, but now I'm thinking about keeping them.

A part I really like on this gun is the ball and detent cylinder lock. Because of this, the ejector rod is longer, and you can fully extract fired cases.

The sights are terrific. The front blade has a bright orage/red stripe, and is easy to pick up in dim light.

Is it a CCW gun? Weight-wise, it's the same as a 5" 1911, and people have been carrying those around for almost 100 years. I think the right holster would make it a good carry piece. I'm probably going to order a pancake from Lobo Gunleather in the near future.

Aside from everything else, it is just plain cool looking.

I also just got one 2 weeks ago. I also have the 8 shot 357 that matches it. They both shoot better than they look like they would with the short barrels. Get a lot of looks at the range also and positive comments.
