Any suggestions? Need one for an open-carry state (New
Mexico) - preferably one that sits low. Never bought a holster before so any tips would help.
S&W .357 magnum Model 66-2, 4 inch barrel
Thanks!

There are several good ones out there. It all depends on your personal preferences and purpose of carry. If you want one to kick around in the country it may differ from one to carry for serious defense duty in town. Take a look at what is offered by major manufactures. Some are Bianchi, Don Hume, Desantis, El Paso Saddlery, Galco, Rosen, Safariland, Stallion Leather, and Tex Shoemaker & Sons. All of these have web sites. Also look for a holster that matches your belt width. Lets say your belt is 1 1/2" wide and the holster is for a 2 1/4 " belt. The holster will just flop around and beat your leg to death. Some times you can find an in expensive holster on Ebay, you just need to be careful with the sellers rating and what the product looks like. I have seen some there that were ridden hard and put up wet, and I have seen some that were abolutely new in the package. An example is a Safariland police swivel holster I picked up there for $10. It was new in the package as if it had never been sold when they were the style for police officers.

Thanks for the info...... again, new at this. I did find something that seems to meet my needs (backcountry hiking in bear/cougar country) that hangs off of the thigh (backpack, so I'd like it out of the way) but it says it's for a 6" barrel and mines a 4". Will that be a big problem?

My experience would be to stay away from Ebay holsters, unless you know it's a quality holster for a way-cheap price.
For a good quality holster, that's comfortable, is secure and will last a long time you'll pay $80 - $120 and end up glad you did after you've worn it for months.

Milt Sparks, Hume, Galco, Bianchi, Safariland all make quality holsters for S&W K frame revolvers. The Ebay holsters that show "One size fits ALL" usually fit NONE, well.
