Model 10
I've got it's twin in my collection. I took the sideplate off and the action was full of some kind of pinkish grease. Mine has a little holster wear on both sides of the muzzle.

What's there to know? The Hong Kong police and Customs S&W's were dumped on the market when the British transferred control of the colony to China. I have the same Revolver with a "BEB' prefix. I wrote a classmate from the FBI National Academy who was an Inspector in the Hong Kong Police, and he sent me an issue lanyard for mine.

The Royal Hong Kong Police is a force of around 30,000 sworn officers serving around 7 million people , Hong Kong (a corruption of the Chinese meaning Fragrant Harbour) is one of the most densly populated areas on earth.
Originally a British colony, ceded to Britain in 1842 and returned to China in 1997.The force consisted originally of European Officers and local Constables this slowly changed to increase the number of local Officers. A number of European officers remained after handover, although I would think they would be retired by now.
The sworn members were issued S&W revolvers with lanyard ring and marked like the one in the photograph. I believe the Hong Kong Police still carry revolvers. It may be that an almost new gun was sold off because of the (to them) offensive colonial and royal markings ????
They received the title Royal Hong Kong Police in the late 60s as a mark of recognition on their handling of a series of nasty communist inspired riots.
They were at the time of handover one of only five police forces with the "Royal" title.
I recently shot against Hong Kong Police, a fine bunch of people, keen competitors and not bad shots. They fielded revolver teams and used heavy barrel 4 inch Smith&Wessons (the world's finest close quarter fighting handguns).

There were several thousand of these, usually 4", either stamped RHKP or CE (Customs and Excise, I guess similar to the IRS or Treasury Dept.)
Hong Kong is a city in southeast mainland China, which came back under the jurisdiction of the mainland in 1997. "Honk" Kong is a cross between a goose and a very large movie gorilla

Most of the RHKP guns I've seen have 4 and 5 digit rack numbers and are unpinned. I have one (and seen one other) that is pinned with a rack number in the low 100's. Maybe a test lot?
Prolly worth a letter. Someday.
Regards,
Pat

Mod 10's
There is a comment on page 175 of the 3rd Edition of the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson stating that around 1983, 13000 Mod 10's were traded for new firearms and Acusports of Ohio bought many of them.
As far as the designation "Royal" Hong Kong Police, I served in an Navy Shore Patrol unit headquarted at Fenwick Pier in the Wanchi District of Hong Kong in 1962, and again in 1964, and the organization was the RHKP
then.

Pinned ones are uncommon? Add rack number RHKP 1065 10-7 SN 6D094xx to your list. I always thought the most unusual thing about it was the smooth Victory grips marked with a V.

Hiya Mack,
Thanks for the reply. I'm sure there are others out there but those are the only three I have heard of. Interesting about the stocks.

Pat

I have a 4" Model 10-7 that once patrolled the streets of Hong Kong, it to is "RHKP" marked. I was fortunate enough to make a connection in Hong Kong with a retired RHKP Police Officer and Marksmanship Instructor, he was able to help me put together a nice collection of issue items to go along with it, an issue flap jolster, lanyard, RHKP police whistle, bullion patch, etc.
It looks well worn, but shoots great. I have used it in quite a few IDPA and IPSC matches. Here's a pic:

Mine appears to have modified Magna stocks?
Mine is 10-7 AAM9130 RHKP 1491. It's been suggested they were cut down for 'the old look'. Nicely done by whoever, Police?, last owner? Cheers, Don

"'Honk' Kong is a cross between a goose and a very large movie gorilla".
Make certain it does NOT land on your lawn or dock.

Very cool guns. I remember when they hit the market in the mid (late?) 90's. You could buy them for $200 or so. Every gun show I went to had tables covered up with them.

I picked one of these up at the Weatherby's Showroom in Southgate, Ca along with a Saudi M-49 Bodyguard just before the store closed in the early 90’s. I recall seeing full page adverts form that era featuring these. Both guns were marked excellent. The RHKP came in a plane box wrapped in news paper while the Saudi gun came in a S&W box with cleaning rod included.

I have one that is marked CE plus number on the backstrap. It looks new.I am sure it was never issued. It is a -7 with a AFW serial number prefix. I bought it about a year ago for $225.
