624 Lew Horton Holster info please
I have a 3" holster that came with my 624 Lew horton. I dont know if it's factory. It is a black holster that has S&W 624 inprinted on the outer pant side. Is this a lew Horton holster or a factory S&W? I cant find a picture of the Lew horton run. I will add pics later when I get home

Sure sounds like you have one of the originals from Horton. I believe....but surely stand to be corrected.....that S&W sourced and included them in the Horton package. Sounds just like the one I have.
Ditto on trying to get pics this weekend.

Thanks 1mathom1 for the info. These must be scarse because I cant even find one for sale. So the Lew Horton package holsters in the 624 run were black and thats what I have. Thanks again

They were black and factory marked for the 624. I believe they made 1000 holesters. I know they made some left handed and some right handed. I have a nib one for my 624. They sell for around $75 when they are in good condition and pop up here and on eBay from time to time.

sounds great. Did all the Lew Horton 624 no dash 3" barrel's come with the holster or only a selected few? I have the original box, grips, paperwork, tool kit, and holster for mine and I would say in 97+% condition.

I picked up the L/H version here in the classifieds about a year ago. Consider myself quite lucky.
I've seen them since, just takes patience.

I believe they all did. The reasoning of some was that there were no commercially available N frame 3" holsters. I'm not sure as I wasn't legal when the runs came out (I preferred GI JOE and Scooby Doo then), however I don't see why they couldn't use holsters for the 27 3.5" model. Either way they are original kit and I believe somewhere on here there is a discussion of the Horton models with period advertising showing the gun, box, holster etc. From what I have heard they are good holsters, and I have seen them bring from $50-100 depending on condition.

I have the 624 Lew Horton that I bought new in, I believe, '85. It came with the holster and I believe the reason for that is as senecaap stated, there just weren't any 3" Ns out there at that time. I never carried the gun, took it out and shot it on a handful of occasions, then loaded it up with Silvertips and stuck it in my office desk-drawer as my office SD gun which is where it resided undisturbed, fortunately, for about 23 years. I've still got the box, tools, and unused holster, and have relieved the gun of office duty.

S&W factory holsters for the 24 ( right, 1000 issued ) and factory holster fror the 624 on left.. My undestanding is that S&W had holsters produced for both the 24 and 624 when they were first issued because at that time nobody had holsters for a 3" N frame..
and I don't know why but I seem to have a spare for the 624.. might have to get another gun for it.... or stick it in the classifieds..

Kritter, the holster on the right, whats is marked on the back side?
When I bought the 24-3 3" it came with a S&W holster. Looks an awful lot like the one on the right. One day I tried the gun in and I cant snap it closed. I tried a K frame its way to loose. I guessed mine was for a 686? Mine is marked BJC .
Thanks

The holsters weren't included with either the Model 24-3 or 624. They were an option and cost an extra $30.00 or so. I ordered one for my 24-3 after the gun arrived at my dealer. I never got one for my 624; I wish I would have now.

When I called my buddy Bobby up at the Lew Horton factory he told me that company records showed my LH 624 3" came with a holster as a "kit pack". Here is a picture, it looks to be the same as the others in the post. I too have the original box, paperwork and tools. I will post a pic tonight.

I ordered the holster along with my 624 in 1985. The holster on the right is the one I received for it.
BTW........The 696 works in it too.

The above holster on the left came with the model 24-3 and the one on the right came with the 624. I recall that the 624 holster was optional and an extra $30 or so.

"Gifted"
Picked this one up a couple of years ago. 624 is bottom revolver. Hadn't occurred to me to try my recently acquired 657 in the holster until just now.
Need to get new grips at some point.

I've got my eye on one of the Galco holsters S&W is selling for the N-frames now. These fit multiple barrel lengths. If someone just has to have one of the 624 marked holsters I could probably be talked out of mine as it hasn't been used but a half dozen times.

Does anybody have a right hand holster for the 624 3" for sale in either the service or pancake style?

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread but I recently picked up a holster that appears to be the same as what you guys are showing here. Unfortunately none of my N-frames are shorter than 5" so I can't check the fit, but it certainly is too loose for the K-frame I tried in it.
According to these pictures do I indeed have one of the Lew Horton holsters, and if so what sort of value would it have in today's money?

I have two 624’s with holsters. Haven’t looked in ages but that ^^^^^^^^^ looks legit.
A hundred bucks.
I’ll dig mine out tomorrow and post pics.

Thank you. From further research I guess they made these for 686 Lew Hortons, too. Unfortunately none of my L-frames are snubbies, either.

Perhaps mine is for the LH 686 rather than the 24/624, then? Someone needs to send me a 686 snubbie so I can check it out!
