Didn't Smith and Wesson make desk sets with that same theme? I remember hearing that they were executive gifts....I know someone here has seen at least one....

I have one. It consists of a walnut piece about 3" X 10" X 1-1/2" with the S&W logo on it. One end has a Model 696 cylinder sitting on it, while the other end has a 3" Model 686 barrel sticking up at a 45 degree angle. They were in the S&W catalog about 10-15 years ago. It was a good way to use up scrapped and faulty barrels and cylinders.

All you need are moon clips so you can reload your pencils quicker.

I have one but no barrel, just the cylinder on a walnut base and a blue round plastic S&W logo disk embedded near the front right corner. Has a lowered section for a S&W note pad.

I made my own from an old 1917 S&W .45 cylinder. Polished, polished, and polished with steel wool and Mother's Mag Wheel wax.
.45 will cover the size of about any pen/pencil, .38 and below are too small.

I read somewhere (prob. here) that some FBI executives have cylinders from scrapped revolvers for pencil holders.
It's a snazzy idea. I think a .38-.357 cylinder will hold Cross ballpoints, prob. not their fountain pens or Mont Blanc. But few of us leave our good pens on the desk.
Be sure that if you use a good pen in these not to scratch it. The steel cylinder is harder than a pen's surface, usually, esp. gold-plated pens.

I have one of these with the walnut base felt bottom and cyl for pens. It has the blue intertwined S&W. I am selling it for 35 plus shipping if anyone is interested.

My Sons former girlfriend gave him one of these about 15 years ago. I used to have it on my desk before I retired. I believe it had the (fake) bullets as part of the set. Its around my house somewhere, I'll have to look for it. It really was kind of a cool desk accessory. Very well machined as I recall.

I have one from the 70's. Looked home made from a Colt cylinder, mounted on a piece of Walnut. Of course back then, I spent my time dreaming of how I could build a gun around it.
Still got it somewhere.
