63 no dash, non pinned Barrel
I have a model 63 no dash with a non pinned barrel. According to the Standard Catalog of S&W, -1's were the start of non pinned barrels.
I guess it happens sometimes?

Yes it does. I had a 63 no dash non-pinned barrel and recently found a no dash pinned barrel 63 so I bought one and sold one. The neat part was it was an even $500 swap of money.

Heck, I'd be willing to swap my M63 for that amount of money. :-)

The pinned 63 was nearly new unfired in a pawnshop for $500 OTD, so I bought it and took my unpinned 63, which was not nearly as nice to a gunshow and got my $500 back.

The 63's came out around the time of transition from pinned to no pin, so it is not surprising some have them, and some don't, as has been shown to be the case in the K and N lines made in the early 80's.

I too just picked up a No Dash 63 without the pinned barrel. SCSW says it should be marked 63-1, but it was made in 1982 right as the transition took place.

Here is a picture of a no dash Mod 60 without the pin. The lack of a pin seemed to be most common on the J frame revolvers in stainless during the transition.

I have a 19-3 with two different serial numbers, by one digit. So, things happen, as they say.
