New unfluted 3-inch 686

LGS has an unfluted 3-inch 686 with special checkered, slightly finger grooved grips that make gun basically square butt.
At the bottom of the grips are the numbers .357.

I thought the unfluted 3-inchers (or 2.5 inchers) were early models, not current production.

This one was tested and issued from factory this mid-Ocotober.

But I see no listing in the S&W site for custom or standard production.
