It has been repeatly posted on this forum that any 25-5s with 3 alphabet prefix four number serial numbers like ABC1234 have the smaller throats. I have not seen a serial number or date for when the change was made. Many earilier 25-5s had thier cylinders replaced under warranty so a serial number or date wouldn't give a reliable indication of a particular gun anyway. Some have posted that the change corresponded with deletion of the barrel pin in 1982 but I think that is not reliable. If in doubt just try dropping bullets of known dia. through the cylinder or use an expanding ball gauge & your micrometer.

Best Regards,
Gil

My 1972 mfg 25-2 has .452 throats. Not all the earlier guns had sloppy throats, but many/most did.
