I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good pocket holster for a 642. I have tried just sticking it in my front pocket with the butt sticking out a little but it eventually settles to the bottom and it looks like I have a railroad spike in my pocket. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.:D

A Desantis Nemisis works well with my 638. Sticks to the pocket when you remove the revolver.

I carry a 640 in a Kramer pocket holster every day. It works very well. I wear Docker type pants and it fits just right. Jeans no way.

I bought a DeSantis Nemesis for my 642 from Midway, and even though the gun fits in it nice and snug, the whole holster seems too big for carrying in anything but very large pockets (like on cargo pants/shorts). I know that it is supposed to take up your whole pocket to keep it stable, but for me it would work better if it was cut down a bit.

My other issue with pants pocket carry is that unless your pants are fairly loose, and pockets fairly large, drawing the pistol is more difficult. And if you are seated, forget about it.

I now carry mine mostly inside the waistband, no holster, using a Barami Hip Grip. Works surprisingly well.

I second Robert Mika's pocket holsters as a great product. He is indeed a fine fellow, too. I initially ordered one for my 296 - and added one for a 642, even though I didn't own the revolver then. It fit 3/4 of my pockets, so I found a 642 'deal' and added that - it fit's everything.

Here the pair are:

I had to get a spare L-frame - my wife comandeered the original - velcro-ed it to her car's tunnel by the seat - and carries a 2" 10 for a car protector. I also got a spare 642 holster - haven't needed it, despite most of three years of carry with that first one - holds up great - stays put. Excellent value.

Another vote for the Mika. I have had mine for more than 4 years and it still looks and works great.

Check with this custom maker linked below.

The fit & quality of these holsters are superb for the low dollar outlay.
Takes a few weeks to receive the holster, but You won't be disappointed.

I use a Galco Pocket Protector, but I'm going to get one of the Tuff products holsters as I like the little pouch for a speed strip.

I do custom leather work, my holsters are made of vegetable tan, top grain, 8/9 ounce leather, fairly priced and made to an individual's specifications. I specialize in J frame holsters.
The first is my personal front pocket holster, it's ambidextrous and rough side out to give it traction so it stays in my pocket when I draw my gun.
The next is a back pocket holster designed to give a wallet like outline.
The third is a belt holster which can double as a pocket holster, it does have molded in retention, so when used as a pocket holster the off hand is needed to hold the holster in place in the pocket. My pocket holsters can be cut to precisely fit the pocket of you favorite trousers.

I've used the Uncle Mike's pocket holster for a 640 for over twelve years. It's inexpensive, does what it's supposed to, and fits pockets that my recently-acquired Desantis Nemesis won't. But in pockets the Nemesis does fit, I like it a lot. Better than the UM at reducing printing, absolutely won't shift in the pocket, keeps the gun solidly positioned for the draw, and is slick inside to make drawing very easy.

Another vote for the Mika. It is kinda ugly (although I think he now makes them in a variety of colors), but the functionality is top-notch. Zero printing and always stays in the pocket on a draw. Wear mine all the time...

I'm 100% against the Mika - do you know how many naughas he has to kill to manufacture his evil product!:D

(On a serious note - + how ever many on the Mika - great product)

I ordered one from Mika. He respond from his cell phone at around 12:00 AM to tell me how long it will take and I won't be disappointed. I like that personal touch. Not to mention all the good things I have heard before ordering.
