Found a Smith and Wesson 547 9MM revolver in a local pawn shop, it had been sitting for at least four months with no takers, priced at an optimistic $900. I was making a move on another Smith and Wesson revolver, a somewhat shabby Model 10-6 and figured I'd try to make a package deal for both revolvers. After an hour or so of haggling, I got the Model 547 by trading two "Ho-Hum" guns worth $600 or so, and put the Model 10 on layaway....
Got the 547 home and immediately put 100 rounds through it, I was impressed. The revolver is very accurate, it was easy to get hits on an 8" swinging steel plate out to 35 yards. Recoil is less than with a Glock 17, and it shoots my pet cast lead hand loads accurately.
I shoot this revolver better than I can a Glock, as I have extensive experience in shooting "K" frame S&W's, not so much experience with Glock's. Best I can do with a Glock 17 is hits on the 8" plate at 20 yards.
The finish wear on the revolver is interesting, the muzzle is holster worn and there is finish wear on one cylinder flute only, like it was loaded and holstered, and then never un-holstered. Don't know why there would be wear on only one cylinder flute. Here's a picture of the revolver showing holster wear:

Looks like my camera is acting up and getting artsy on me, why the red "effect" I don't know...
I have read a small amount of info about the Model 547, apparently they were made in small amounts for foreign police forces, I hear only 3500 or so were made in 4" and square butt configuration, that makes this a somewhat rare piece, one that I am glad to own.
I think I will try my hand at IDPA with this revolver come Spring.
A better picture, taken later in the day, light must have been off earlier:
