Default Found N-Frame Duty Holster

A few months back I asked about some N-Frame Duty Holsters. I wanted to share that I found one similar to the Safariland "hooded" holsters. A local company here in OKC called Looper Leather make leather police gear. They have become partners with Blade-tech and can put there hooded attachment on leather holsters in about any finish you need. I purchased one for my S&W 627 and love it. I will try to post a photo later, but I would definately look to them if you want a quality duty holster. The downfall is its only a level 1 holster, but I feel its a little more secure than a thumbsnap style.

You can see in the right photo the tab. Unlike in Safariland holsters where you push it forward, here you grab the butt of the gun and push the tab towards your body. The hood is spring loaded and falls forward. I had mine made with the open trigger guard. The hood is close enough that the hammer cannot be pulled all the way back to fire while secured in the holster. You can get it in a covered trigger guard.

I spent some time today talking to Lisa Looper at Looper Law Enforcement. Obviously, it is a family owned business, and they seem very willing to tailor make equipment for the working peace officer

He would probably tell you to go ask the Chief Deputy who, according to policy, is responsible for approval of personally owned firearms...

I've heard that the Chief Deputy is fairly easy to talk into such things. If memory serves, that's how personally owned 1911's were approved.

Yea Looper is family owned and operated. The holsters are excellent quality. Some of the "ole timers" are still carrying their issued holsters from the academy. All the gloss is worn off, and they look brown but are very good quality. The only downfall is they are pretty slow. Its pretty much a 2 man operation so you have to be patient with them. I did have to wait for about 8-10 months on another holster, but once you get it and see they quality you will realize why.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I've been looking for a company like this. Been using an old Bianchi for several years with my duty N frames. Now I can order a holster for dress and one for work. Oh yeah, if I didn't already say it.......thanks.

Default What model name / number

What is the model name or number for that holster? How much was it? I have a 5.5" S&W 627-0 that needs a duty holster.

Thumbs up

Well, you guys have me jealous. Our off duty policy is good, but it's been several Chief's since we had that choice for on duty- even for autos. I'll have to see what Looper has for off duty.

Congrats and good to hear about Looper.

Sheriff I went by Loopers yesterday and they were just finishing up on your orders. I have to admit that stuff looked pretty good in basketweave. I hope you enjoy it. You will have to let me know what you think when you get it.

My only complaint is that I do not like the exposed trigger guard. Other than that it is pretty sweet.

That Looper Holster is alright!! I like how they took the bucket design and added a modern retention device to it.
