Just got a 617 6", and am thinking about putting some type of optics on this gun. Anyone have any recomendations or have any success with optics they are using????

A Leupold works fine on mine.

Depends on what you want to do. I had an UltraDot red dot on one for bullseye and it worked great (pretty heavy, but very effective). I had a 2x Leupy EER scope on another mainly for fooling around and it worked too, but really needed a rest or support to get a decent sight picture.
