I just purchased a 625-5 like new in box with all papers. Is this considered a pinto? It is nickle with a blue cylinder. This gun is listed as a low production run. How collectible will it be due to low production and coloring or is it just another oddball 625? What would it be worth in todays market?

The 625-5 is stainless not nickle which is what yours looks like, blue or nickle would be a model 25-5. So yours looks like a 625 with a 25 cylinder, I have never seen one like this but does not mean it was never done. No idea on the value.

Very interesting! The regular 5" 625-5 Classics were a special run of 1550 made in 1993, but they all had stainless cylinders and were laser etched 625 Classic and .45 Colt on the sides of the barrel. Are the first 3 letters of yours SDS?

I'm guessing this is either a factory gun made up of a leftover frame/barrel from that run, or else someone has replaced the cylinder afterwards.

Here's one I just traded away. It had been polished to the point that the laser etching is barely visible in this photo.

My book shows:

625-5 with 5" barrel with blue cylinder/stainless frame, approximately 48 manufactured for AcuSport, s/n range CLS0000-CLS00047, .45 Colt.

Page 254 of the Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson 3rd Edition list the following:

Model 625-5 5" barrel with Blue cylinder/stainless frame:
Approximately 48 manufactured in CLS0000 - CLS00047 serial range for AcuSport. Chambered in .45 Colt.

I will pick up gun today and look at serial number to find which one it is.

Are the low run productions like this more collectible than a regular gun?

Paid $ 700.00 for it. Going to pick it up today. Didnt look close when I bought it but it looked nice. I will post serial number when I get it.

How much premium for low production?
It will go into the safes with the rest of them. It might see the light of day in the next 10 or 15 years. I do try to wax them and see what I own every couple of years.

625-5 where is serial number on gun?

I had posted I couldnt find the serial number for the gun but we located it and emailed Smith and Wesson.
The serial number is CL010. This makes it gun number 10 in the run.
Gun is in excellent condition. All paperwork including the warrenty card is still with the gun. It is pretty with the stainless and blue cylinder.
