Does a 7 shot Model 681 exist?
I heard they did from a "collector" about 8 years ago in a gunshop in Southwestern, CT. He claimed they were ordered by a security company. I don't recall a production number, but I know he claimed they were made by S&W. I'm refering specifically to a the Model 681, not 686.

Yes, they were. I've seen some that were ported, and some that had the "Birdsong" treatment.

There were 25 4" 7-shot 681's made for a Sheriffs office in the NE (681-3 IIRC).
IIRC member IbSandy had one. Red white and blue cardboard "export" box. Check his posts and you should see the thread.
Of course there were also the three PC 681 7-shot models as well. Two 3" and one 4". Regards 18DAI.

Stunning images...
I knew nothing of the 681 until I saw saw a 6 shot in the display case at my local gun shop at a discount vs the 586 and 686.
They are creeping up my bucket list... and now you tell me they have 7 shots?
And upon further research... they made a 581?
This is not going to be good for my wallet... not good at all.
