My thanks to Stainz... the grips make a difference for three reasons.

• Reduced Sticking

I never liked finger indentation on grips. I also, found the stock grips would catch on clothing. These are terrific and at a good price.

Those 60 pro grips really look good, I'm still waiting for mine to come in. I can't wait to try these.

Yesterday I checked the difference in MV between the 3" and 2-1/8 632s. this is what I came up with using factory ammo six rounds each gun:
Fed American Eagle 100 gr.
3" avg 1462 2-1/8" avg 1376

Fed Hydra-Shok 85 gr.
3" avg 1397 2-1/8 avg 1359

Speer Gold Dot 115 gr.
3" avg 1382 2-1/8 avg 1286

This was done over a 3-4 hour period so the temp changed some. The first time I checked AE 100gr was a year or so ago before I got the 2-1/8 and the average was somewhere around 1525.

My two sets of back-ordered 60 Pro grips arrived via USPS from S&W last Monday. I no longer have to swap grips for range trips, my two 63's, 651, and 632 Pro each now have their own - as does my 3" 60 Pro! If you didn't get your back-ordered sets last week, I'd give S&W a call. Great value - 'just right', for me, on my 2 1/8" 632 Pro to my 5" 63. Great hand-fit - and they look pretty good, too.

PS Thanks, bobf, for the chrono info - I guess the 115gr Gold Dots are a good choice for carry.

Sorry i took so long to respond. Yes, I know about the 640 Pro with the dovetail sights. For me, j-frames are really just pocket-carried backup guns, and an all steel j frame is a bit too heavy for me for that role. I tried using our 649-5 in that role and it was just too much weight with all the other stuff I'm carrying.

So what I'd really like to see is an alloy or scandium 2" j in .38/.357 (or .32 H&R/.327)with those dovetailed sights.

I find the sights on my 642s to be a real handicap at any distance beyond 10-15 yds in terms of accuracy at speed, especially under sub-optimal lighting conditions, even though I've blackened the rear notch and painted the front blade orange.

Stainz is right on. I took his advice and added them to my 632-2. Shot it yesterday and the grips make a difference. I am cleaning the revolver as soon as I send this.

I just ordered two (2) sets of grips for my Pro Series 640 and 632-2. They are expected in about two weeks. Thanks to Papa for the SKU #. I now need to find a couple of good holsters for them; a paddle or snap on and off. Any suggestions?

How is pricing on .327 mag ammo. Is there much variety yet?

I've had no problem finding ammo for my 632. I've experimented with several different loads and settled on Speer Gold Dot 115 grn for a carry load. I found these from $19.95 to $24.95 for a 20 round box. Most larger stores carry at least some 327 Magnum ammo, and I've found several with a good variety like Big R, Sheels. Gun shows always have some also. This is a very good calibre that I'm sure will grow in popularity as more shooters discover it.

I do know that things are looking up, at least for now. When I got my first .327 back in 2008 there were only three choices for factory ammo, all thru Federal (Speer).

Currently I see that Federal has expanded their .327 Federal Magnum offerings a little and Buffalo Bore is now in the game.

There may be other .327 Fed Mag offerings around but I haven't been checking things out much since I stocked up big time back in 2008.

In spite of the fact that I probably have a lifetime supply of self defense loads I can't resist the Buffalo Bore and am just bideing my time until they come up with all of the choices they will be giving us .327 Mag lovers.....

I've shot the American Eagle 85 grn SP and it's a hot, accurate load. The Speer 115 Gold Dot is even hotter and more accurate and as of now my carry load. I'm looking forward to trying the Corbon DPX and the HydroShoks. The 115 grn Gold Dot expands reliably, penetrating 2 waterjugs and coming to rest in the 3'rd. I'm still waiting for S&W to send me the 60 Pro grips I ordered, but have to admit the original rubber factory grips are comfortable.

While I'm a big fan of Buffalo Bore ammo I'm undecided on what to do. Because the .327 is an "odd-ball" round I stocked up early on (back in '08) and have 200 rd's of the 115 gr Speer Gold Dots & 100 of the Hydra-Shok's on hand so I'm trying to decide if I want to continue on with those, which isn't a problem, or make the switch to Buffalo Bore?

If I do make the switch at least I'll have a decent supply of good ammo if the .327 falls by the way-side and is hard to get someday. With three .327's in the house, down from four, more is better.

I won't even mention how many of the American Eagle JSP's I have hanging around.

Ogy, you can never have to much ammo. I hope this great round grows in popularity and doesn't fade from the scene. I think I'll start stocking some just to be safe.

I like the cartridge, I just wish S&W would step up and make a K or L frame revolver for it!!
