Please help with 629-6
I pick this unit up the other day. The owner saying it is a lew horton. Has any one saw a unit like this before. I looked in the Smith book no product code came up. I have attached pix of the 629 and the end label. Any help with what this is or could be. It has a very low SN#02. Does anyone know what the codes are.
Thanks for your help

There is some info missing from the label -- no dash number following the 629 (should be 06 separated by a few spaces), no MAG after the caliber designation, no barrel length.
The 7017 is the date code, right? So it was completed January 17, 2007. (I have a run-of-the-mill six inch 629-6 that was wrapped up six days earlier: 7011).
I wonder if 150021 is a kind of generic product ID for partial or non-standard assemblies.
Is this the same gun as the one mentioned in this thread? If not, there is at least one other one out there.
629-6 3 1/2" ???

I found a couple of online firearms dealers who list Product 150021 but are out of stock. One described it as a three-inch magnaported bright stainless .44 magnum.
That's 3 inches, not 3.5". I don't know how to reconcile the difference.

Didn't want to start a new thread, since I'm asking the same question the original poster did...so...I just picked one of these 629's up....did anyone ever determine what exactly this model is? Called S&W and they said they said it was a special run in 2006, but couldn't tell me who for.
Mine looks exactly like the original posters pic, and the layout of the box decal is also the same. Difference is, there is a tag above this one that says the revolver is a 629-5, but when I look on the frame(yoke) it says 629-8.
