I don't think I'd consider them "Rare",but more like "Scarce" unless it would be an Early Production 651 with No Dash. RSR had a run made for them that there are reported to have been 1200 or so produced in 1998 if I remember correctly & I believe Lew Horton had a run of them produced around the same time frame ,but not sure of how many were produced. Both the RSR & Lew Horton's would have been Model Stamped 651-1 not 651 w/o the Dash. As far as what they are bringing it's hard to say without doing some searching around for realized prices in auction sites. Also is it a Boxed Revolver or just the Revolver itself?? That will be the deciding factor. What is the buyer's asking price on the one you are looking at now??

Definitely priced right!! Does it have Rubber Fingergroove Grips? If so, it's most likely one of the Revolvers that RSR had made for them!! You'll love it!! They're lots of fun to shoot!!

There's one on an auction site right now, LNIB, with a bid of $800 and a reserve of $1200. I'd say you did OK.

This is the same gun as the 2" Model 63, just chambered for RFM instead of LR, and the 2" 63's go for crazy numbers, in the $1000 range when you can even find them. Granted yours doesn't have box/papers, but for what you paid it's a steal! You could even have a LR cylinder fitted for it (probably $200 or so) and it would still be a steal!

Good looking revolver, but not very useful. Nice guy that I am, I'll give you $499 for it.

Congrats on your 651 2"bbl, and you got it at a terrific price!
I bought one last year LNIB that was made in '98
for $650 OTD, and I still feel I got a deal.
Took it to the range a couple weeks ago
for the first time, and it was a hoot to shoot!

My 2" Dual Cylinder Model 651
Here is my dual cylinder, 22mag/22LR Model 651 2" I bought last summer for $695. It came with what I believe is a "Pelson" case and it's original S&W factory box/papers.
For $399 I would have definately bought the one you got even though I already have one. Nice find! They are great little guns.

Here are two 651-1s and one 63-3. They look and feel much better with some J-frame magnas. I have upgraded the 63 to some Sheephorn grips..even better. You got a great deal.

I had looked at it that Monday morning but knew I wouldn't be happy with a .22 magnum with a 2" barrel. Saw a Model 34-1 2" nickel last week in a small shop more to my liking but it was $50 more IIRC.

2" M-651
Hello Kris,
Sorry to learn you have parted company with it since I'm in the market for one of each of the two short barrel Models mentioned. You know you did well at the price you paid and I'm fairly sure you saw the price on the one in Columbia!
Was good to make your acquaintance during our get-together, hope you found the goodies you were seeking and that you had a safe trip back home.

I love the .22 Magnum but having a hard time thinking of a good use for the 2" 651. For the trail I'd prefer a 3" or 4" barrel. For concealed carry the lightweight Centennial style 351c is superior (and holds 7).
Still, I would have jumped all over it at $399.
