I personally love the Miculek grips. I do not have them on a 625 (I do not own one yet) but I have two N frame model 327's with 5 inch barrels and Miculek grips. They are fantastic...

Nope, I don't care for them. I like the Altamont grips better.

Don't feel too bad nor take any of the pics to heart imo.

Grips are like shoes and women. No matter what anyone else says they feel like, the only one that matters to is you. If you don't like em, I'll bet they last all of a day or so on the Classifieds.

As an aside, I never liked them either but have Buds who swear by them and outfit every revolver they own with them. Go figure.

Default choosing grips....

is a personal hands on thing. Sorta like asking a stranger to try on a pair of shoes to see how they'll fit you. That is one of the best things about gun shows, you can get your hands on things.

I personally like Jerry's grips a lot and have them on most of my Smith's.

I had to "grow" into them. I shoot a lot of practical/defensive pistol. I have also been able to actually shoot with Jerry at his range in Princeton,La. He doesn't say much, but he is a great, down to earth type of fellow.
I have paid close attention to him, because i too, am a revolver shooter. His grips allow him to finalize his grip after the draw. I learned this myself, the hard way. I always ran rubber grips because I didn't like the slick grips that came on his 625. However, you don't always grab the grips perfectly. As the revolver comes up, you can make a split second adjustment before the shot ifs fired.
I always thought he carried a bottle of rosin or similar, to help him stick to his grips. It is actually corn starch, so no sweat will grab the grips. Slowly but surely, I am learning his tricks, twenty years...and I'll be right on his heels...

I have two 625's including one JM Special and I immediately changed both grips to Pachmayr Decelerators. I LOVE the Pac's...

I like the original Pachmayr grips on 625 model of 1988. For wood I like the S&W current combats that I have on my 625 SAC.

I have a set on my 627-5 and it is the perfect balance with the 4" heavy barrel. It is comfortable even with full power .357 Magnum loads.

I have another set on a 629 Mountain Gun and recoil is brutal with full power loads. Fortunately I rarely use full power loads and don't have any reason to shoot them double action. This revolver is very comfortable to shoot fast DA though when using .44 Special.

Then there is the original red, white and blue JM grips I have on my 625 SAC Mountain Gun. I think it's a perfect combination, though I don't want to shoot lots of rounds through it at one time.

Each of my three grips is different in one way or another. They look the same but they vary in thickness and that makes a difference in how well they handle the recoil. The barrel length, weight and contour also have a huge impact in felt recoil.

Like the feel of the Hoagues on my 625-2 but don't like the looks. Like the looks of a set of silver/gray Miculeks but they don't feel quite as good. Kind of a six of one, half a dozen of another situation.

The JM's feel like holding the fat end of a baseball bat. I use a set of Hogue's neoprenes. Ugly, but funtional.

Default Jerry

tirvin73,
Jerry is indeed "down to earth" except when he shoots then he is out of this world. I was, for a time, a regular at the ICORE Matches and took pictures for the Match Directors and therefore I was on Jerry's squad at the IRC for a number of years and spent a lot time with him at the events. One of the nicest highly ranked shooters I've met.

I've never shot a revolver with the JM grips but I have held them in gunshops and didn't care for the feel. My 625 came with Hogue monogrips which I replaced with a set of Ahrends. I really like Ahrends grips, most of my Smiths wear them.

Personally I like them. They are designed for speed (no checkering or grooves) and your hand can quickly adjust on the grip. I also think they would be a very good carry grip with noting to snag clothing. I replaced the factory Pach's that are laying around here somewhere.....

Don't care for wooden grips at all. On the 625 I love the rubber Hogue Monogrip.
