What is this worth?
I'm thinking about selling the revolver shown below. What do you think a fair price would be? It’s a S&W Model 649 (with a Model 60 - 3 inch barrel) and an unfluted cylinder. I removed the front sight and added the grips and the Tyler T-grip and did some polishing.

I'm not sure, except to say it'd be worth more with a front sight.
Interesting gun, I'm not sure I like the longer barrel, but it is a looker. I'm sure the right buyer would pay a premium.

I know I'm years late, but that's an interesting revolver. I feel like I don't want to like it because it looks too new with the barrel and unfluted cylinder, but I can't help it, it looks nice. Just very different blended with old style and new. I love the brass colored theme grip with it, it accents the shiney stainless almost nickel look well.

Don't listen to that ol'Cav 1SG. That pistol's worth every bit of $50.00. I just happen to have that amount set aside...

I'm glad you brought it back around, as I missed it in 2011. Veeeery interesting.......... I kinda like it, even though I don't want to, if that makes sense........

Well put. I'm a big fan of the 649 and I don't want to like it either...but I do! That extra inch on the barrel with the shrouded hammer make for a very pleasing visage. I wonder what the OP ever did with it. Hey OP, fill us in, but I guess with only 4 posts he is long gone.

Wonder why there is no front sight? Everything is there to put one on.

Isn't that the revolver that John Wilkes Booth used to shoot Monty Colt Python at the Ford Motor Company Theater in Seattle, Washington?

Because it was a barrel meant for a (taller) adjustable rear sight, with the front blade on top of the ramp. The more important question to me is - how do you aim it?

I'm guessing BOB94 is still looking for the front sight he removed from that Model 60 barrel. Assuming he finds it, I'll gladly give him $350 for the 649 and won't even ask him where he got it.
