Spegel, "Talent on loan from God" A Spegel grip photo thread ?
I have just received my third pair of Craig Spegel grips.
( Craig Spegel)-Lnk to his site.
The quote is from his site; "This business possible with talent on loan from God."
The Feel, Fit, and Finish is Impeccable.
In this modern world of plastic it is reassuring to know true craftsmanship
still exists.
First on the 27-2 that I received with rubber on it.
The backstrap fit is as they were made for the gun.
A nice model 625 with extended, checkered, boot grips.
Again, how the heck does he get them to fit like this?
A pair of smooth boot grips on a 625-3 45 a.c.p. Perfection!
Last here is a pair of 'Fuzzy' Farrant grips for N square butt on a
1950 357 magnum.
Supper?
May all YOUR grip dreams come true.
Regards
Allen Frame

Grips
Allen
Those checkered boots on your 625 may make me sell all my finger grooves......well, not all of them, but they are beautiful.

The man does amazing work. The only set I have from him happens to be almost identical to the set on your model 27. They reside on my 657. I'd sure like some of his boot grips. Thanks for reminding me to get those ordered.

Beautiful pictures Allen.
Especially for me in upstate NY where I still have 4' drifts on the back 40 where my range is. LOL

My only pair of Spegel were a set for my Browning HP that I ordered from him and they were a copy of a pair he had on a Browning HP on the cover of a gun magazine. They are the best looking and feeling grips I ever saw on a HP. I sold the pistol two years ago and the grips went with the gun and still regret the sale to this day. Yes he is a master of his trade.
Beautiful grips on your revolver.

I love how narrow Spegel's grips are. Would love to have a set for my Model 10 and 640-1.

I'd offer a different view with the same conclusion. I'm carrying right at this moment a 342 that has been carried 16x7x365( except in Leap Years ) since 1999 - working on 12 years. A pair of cocobolo Spegal bootgrips has been on this gun almost since the first day. They show some wear, but they are still as solid and functionally perfect as they were the day I got them from Craig.
That's a different kind of beauty, but I'd say it is at least as important as any other kind of beauty.

Birdseye Maple Spegel grips on my Model 547
My Model 547 came with these Spegel Birdseye Maple grips on it. They look great and fit perfectly. I haven't seen Birdseye Maple offered or advertised on his wesite, so I am wondering if he stopped using Birdseye Maple wood? The grips are dated from 1997.

Those grips are magnificent. My drifts aren't "quite" 4 feet high here...More like 3 feet, but after today's snow I hope we may be done with it for a week or two.

Good stuff, folks. This is a rosewood Spegel boot grip I bought from a fellow forum member (thanks again, Photoman44) last year. After awhile, I realized I didn't care much for the original slick shiny finish that became slippery in sometimes sweaty hands here in sometimes humid SE Michigan so I removed the poly and applied a light hand-rubbed oil finish instead which allows a much better purchase on the grip, pretty important with these little pocket rockets. The wood doesn't "pop" as much with a dull satin finish but still looks decent.

The grips you posted in 2011 are great. How much extra does he charge for checkering?
Thank you

Waiting 6 months now for a pair of checkered boot grips in ebony (K/L frame); and seeing these beautiful examples here just makes the anticipation that much greater. Hope to post my pictures soon.

Hadn't seen this particular thread before, nice as always!
I have 4 sets due April, 2 each J/K-- just decided to do it all at once. If it took a year it honestly wouldn't matter, I just take great satisfaction knowing I'll have them.
