Default No more tool kits?

When I was a rookie and bought my Combat Masterpiece in 1968 it came with a tool kit. I can do with out the rod and cotton swab, but I still use the screw driver to adjust the sights on my guns. My 625 Performance Center came sans tool kit. Would have been nice to have that added in the box seeing I was paying for a custom gun,eh? Well I guess they were giving me an extra already with the internal lock. Boy that really is a great benefit,eh?

Thank the S&W Beancounters. Profit above all else. Only reason I can see to stop including the kit's.

From what I understand, the newest sight adjustment tool is a stamped flat piece that is nothing like the one you got with your CM. So I think if you had received it you would be a bit disappointed. They look a little like a small spark plug gapper for your key chain. It even had a hole in it for a key chain I think.

it would be nice to get a toolkit...at least a neat little S.A.T. so we can collect them in 20 years!

i was talking to the guy that runs the gun range about these tool kits recently...he looked in a drawer and pulled out about 20 of these kits containing the cleaning rod, swabs, screwdriver and gave them to me...i was nearly speechless...the kits were still sealed and dated from the 70's-80's

SCORE! Nice snag!

Few years back a Clerk at one of my LGS's gave me a 3" thick stack of S&W instruction manuals...most from the 60's and 70's.

CDNN occasionally gives these away with orders, and I believe also sells cheaply.

Default Had to get mine from Brownells

Hi Carl. Looks like you and I both got the same model PC 625. I just bought a 4-bit driver set specifically for S&W drivers. You can get a set with a handle or just the bits. I know it isn't as good as getting one with the revolver but at least I won't damage the screws.

Yep. Truer words never spoken. It's surely tougher to find things but the items are still out there.

Month back I found a circa 1957 4 screw pre 29, in original box, UNFIRED.
The gun didn't amaze me as much as the nearly perfect shape of the BOX and the fact it was unfiired. Fifty four years old and still a Virgin!

For those people new to S&W products, this is a picture of a tool kit that used to be included with every firearm sold.
