S&W 340 PD (used)-$515 Hi viz green front sight
S&W 360 PD (used)-$500-crimson trace grips..

Looking for a pocket gun for the summer months here in Philadelphia, shorts and tee gun... I am a 1911 guy, never thought I would consider a revolver, however here I am.. I have that itch..

How are the prices..... I will be honest I am leaning toward the 340PD, however my LGS is trying to push me toward the 360PD, saying there gunsmith can BOB the hammer...

Your thoughts and expertise would be greatly appreciated, anyone have these guns in question...Is there better revolver out there.. that I am missing...

People have said get a 442 and save some money, however my thoughts are for $515 the 340PD is a steal and a superior gun...

Help me out fellas, would like to pick one up by the end of week.

If you were in my shoes what would you choose...and why..

I have been carrying a 340PD now for the past 18 months or so, here in Ohio a holster is required for pocket carry and my wife made me a corduroy holster. This holster keeps the pocket dirt out of it and adds a little extra "fluff" to prevent printing, when I remove the gun the holster always stays in my pocket.

I carry this 340PD all day long and absolutely forget that it is even with me, The stock grips aid in anchoring it in place so aftermarket grips are not an option for me, prior to the 340PD I carried a small automatic that moved and shifted in my pocket and I was consciously having to readjust it to be comfortable.

As for me there is no reason to look any further for a carry gun than the 340PD.

I alternate between a 340PD and 360PD with a 340 hammer installed. I was going to bob the 360's hammer, but got the 340 variety for ten bucks and, happily, these MIM parts drop right in without fitting. Works great! The price is right on either of your choices. I don't like laser sights so if I got the 360 I'd sell the grips. The guns are about 11.5oz, carry all day without fatigue, and are amazingly tough. I have a combined 8K rounds of soft 357 through the two, and they're still as tight as the day I bought them. Both have light Wolff springs and Apex firing pins, which makes them much easier to shoot, and front night sights. Here's a pic of the 360.

Prices are great on both revolvers listed. I just lean toward the 340, as it fills the bill of "pocket-rocket" with its Centennial configuration. No lint, no snag and no problems. The need for single-action is not there in a defensive pocket-gun.

The CT grips are worth 150-200 themselves. I like the hammer and the ability to have DA/SA action. But you will need to clean once in a while as lint does build up.

But it all depends on personal preference.

Presuming they're both in good mechanical shape, I'd get the 340. It's better configured for pocket carry, imo. Then again, I'm a big Centennial fan so I'm sure I'm at least somewhat biased towards that model.

I pocket carry my M&P 340 and I absolutely love it. Light weight, DAO, XS Big Dot front sight, Centennial chambered in .357MAG. I would go with the 340PD, you can't go wrong.

My vote also goes for the 340PD. I bought one last year and have been carrying it in my left (non-dominant side) pocket continuously. I also don't even notice it is there. At just over $500 you can't go wrong. Even though it is "used" I'll bet it hasn't had too many rounds through it, at least not full power Magnums. They hurt too bad to shoot a lot. I shoot mine each trip to the range but just enough to keep it dialed in with my weak hand.
Is the Hi-Vis sight that one that is a tube that sits on top of the barrel? If so that would rule against it for me for a carry gun, looks like it could get knocked off. If not, get the Centennial, you won't regret it.

Those both sound great. I have the M&P360 and love it. I like a hammer, though. I certainly see the point about the no-hammer-snag with the 340, but I still prefer a hammer. The prices are very good from what I'm used to here in the North, but are they commiserate with the condition? If they are in nice condition, you can't go wrong with either of them. Good luck...........

I have a 337 TI, which is a great pocket gun at 10-5oz, and for me no more recoil then my 442..

They're largely the same gun. One comes with $150 grips for the same price. That's a lot more value for the money.
