Default Cleaning a M63-4 Barrel

What is the best way to clean the barrel without nicking the crown. I have noticed a very slight nick at the edge, and believe I did this using a inexpensive cleaning rod. Would a bore snake be a better option? I do have one. Thanks for any and all advise.

Excellent advice on the Bore Snake! Makes clean ups a breeze and no worries on nicks.
