K Frame Grips on N Frame for Small Hands
My Model 21-4 came with Altamont wood round butt grips but I wanted to fit my short fat fingered hands even better.
Check out these Hogue Bantam, K&L Frame round butt, three finger grips on my N Frame round butt 44 Special.
New Grips installed
Overlay old over new
Butt
Heel
These one piece molded grips slipped right on with a nice tight fit. The grips don’t use screws!
They don’t quite line up with the frame near the web of my hand, but this actually gave me a tad more trigger finger reach.

Get the same grip but sized for your N-frame. Not only will it feel better when you fire the gun, but a properly-fitted grip will absorb any "knock around" dings, scratches and other wear your exposed grip frame will otherwise experience, not to mention look better- rubber looks bad enough, no need to make it worse with the wrong size on the gun.

Several years ago I had a nice three-inch M-657, and the combat stocks I had on it were pretty brutal with heavy loads. I took a set of Pachmayr K-frame Compac grips, and with a bit of stretching, got them to fit on the gun. Worked out pretty well, and added to the "carryability".

i have the same size hands as you i guess. i have "modified" K targets by carefully removing some wood from the front part of the grips to relieve them just enough to match up with the backstrap. they are a lot more comfortable for me on an N frame. lee

For anyone with smaller hands, and wanting to shoot N frames, I suggest Ahrends, preferably with finger grooves. I put these on several N frames, and the stocks fit my hands perfectly.

Good advice, however, Hogue does not make (for sale) the rubber Bantam grip for an N Frame RB. They do make it for S&W for the Governor, but do not sell it as a separate piece.

If you are using wood grips, don't be afraid to take a file, or sandpaper to them (preferably aftermarket grips). I didn't like the feel and size of the round butt combat N frame grips on my 24-3 so I bought a pair of Kelly's RB to SB, shortened them and sanded off the finger grooves. fit my short fingers, and make them much easier to carry. A 1" belt sander with a variety of belt grits makes it an easy job. Since they were the "impregnated" wood, no finish was required. I buffed out with 0000 steel wool and put a coat of carnuba wax on them.

Later model 21-4s came out with a wood grip that is not too bad from the factory. I think they are better than the small ones on earlier models.
