Model 60
Can I have a trigger job done on a model 60 .38 special?
My wife can shoot this gun pretty well in single action but because of arthritis has some problems with double action. The gun in .38 special 3" barrel seems perfect for her except for the double action trigger. .

A trigger job can be done to any S&W revolver or auto. Any GOOD local smith (not shade tree guy in his garage...) should be able to smooth it out or maybe change springs. If you know what is involved with removing the side plate for cleaning and lubing the internals then that might help some. With time and patience it isn't hard to do.

How about a fiber optic or night sight for the model 60. Who makes one?

I would urge caution here. J frames are self defense guns and if the wrong smith works on it there might be problems with reliable ignition. I suffer from arthritis too but DO NOT alter the factory settings on ay of my self defense weapons. Just my two cents worth . . .

Any comments on the model 67. I have heard that the k frames have lighter trigger pulls. True?

The trigger mechanism is different on the Ks and while not really lighter they are smoother. Again, if the K is used for SD I DO NOT alter the factory settings. The more you shoot them (or dry fire) the smoother they become.

Notice all the advice here urges caution on gunsmithing?
All of us in our day has had a ruined gun that had to be fixed because someone "did a trigger job."
Clean the Mod 60 well and after 250 or so rounds fired see if that trigger softens up. If not, there are great options on sending it to have a proper action tune-up.
