Hello, this is my first post on this board. I have aquired a 625 jm. This my first revolver. Are the metal clips required to shoot my pistol? Thanks for any information.

Hello smucker. Welcome to the forum. By metal rings, do you mean the moon clips? Moon clips are the thin metal things that hold ammunition together.

The moonclips are not REQUIRED,but they will make ejection of any spent cartridges much simpler. If you don't want to fool with the clips,you can fire .45 Auto Rim cartridges instead.

I fired my 625-2 a couple weeks ago and out of curiosity I fired a couple cylinders full without the moon clips. When turned muzzle up the emptys basically fell out. I think I had three that didn't fall but were out enough to flip on out with a finger nail. A pencil or wooden dowel would be a good idea if you were going to shoot very much.
