Default Who Went Shootin' Today??

I know, its hot, but I had to get out and try the new NY-1 64. Just got back. That revolver is a sheer pleasure to shoot. I LOVE shooting 38 Special. The Speer Lawman Clean-Fire +P 158 FMJ "practice" ammo shoots great. Significantly more thump than the Winchester FMJ 130 grainers. The 64 functioned flawlessly, of course. My converted 28, now a 4" round butt in .45ACP, had a couple light strikes at first, then worked just fine after a couple full moon clips. Then I had to try the .40S&W Federal 180 grain JHP's in the SIG P226 to assure proper feed and function for a carry option. As always, the SIG runs anything you feed it.
I hadn't been out in awhile. Shot up 2.5 boxes at cans in the gravel pit nearby and that felt GOOD. We've moved and both of my Dillons are packed up still. Haven't got my shop situated the way I like yet, so that'll have to wait till this winter. Good to get out. I see a local club has an IDPA pistol match every month. Have to start doing that again. I had a LOT of fun in matches at Holbrook and Payson, AZ at the clubs there.... See you out there! H.

I picked mine out a couple weeks ago at J&G. The help there isn't exactly warm and fuzzy with the customer service, but I'm there for guns, not to get married. They have a ton of 64's in all conditions starting at $259 last I checked. Guys on this site have mentioned replacing the hammer to get back single action, but after shooting action matches, I think double action is always the way to go. JMO, H.

It was raining out so me and my son went shooting at a indoor range that goes out to 25 yds. The bad thing is there you have to shoot factory ammo. You dont have to buy thier ammo but it must be factory and no non brass cases. I shot a few of his guns but all I shot of mine was a Model 14-8 that I just bought new 2 weeks ago. I shot Federals American Eagle 158gr.LRN and shot the best 5 shot offhand 25 yd. group I've ever shot with a centerfire handgun. It was my first 5 shots out of the gun that I shot upon arriving at the range and it was a true 1 1/4" group. I brought my favorite 22LR along (a tuned Ruger Single Six) but never even unpacked it. 2 weeks and 650 to 700 rounds and this gun has me hooked.

Well, I guess that I did too. My BIL was up from FLA visiting us this weekend. He's a bottom-feeder kind of guy so I thought that I'd show him how the other half lives and I took him to the range with a whole passel of pretty nice k-frames. All was going according to plan (I was devastating him on the 25 & 50-yd bulls eye range) until he suggested that we maybe should try some this new-fangled "combat" type shooting. Well, like a dummy I said "sure, why not".

Perhaps my mistake was that I let him set up the course. I'm still hurting. I guess that stuff is for younger and more flexible people than I am. Jumping and running around; up & down on the ground (man it was hot and dusty); and it was (...gasp) a timed event! Needles to say I discovered that I have room for improvement. My scores were not impressive. Afterward I had to resort to a bench rest, scoped 22 rifle just to prove to myself that I could still punch holes somewhere near where I was aiming. No country for old men for sure. -S2

Thumbs up

I went shootin' today! I go to an indoor range and put around 200 rounds through my Ruger Single Six. I tried some Blazer and some Stingers. The Blazer was accurate but smokey, the stinger made a nice "krak" when they hit the backstop.

I then put about 3 dozen rounds through my nickeled S&W model 36. Five of them were +Ps. I wanted to see how it would handle them and it kicked more than with regular 38 Spl. I think I will use the +Ps in my my model 64-3. It has a 3" barrel and a very smooth action. The sights are also better than the 36.

Over all, it was a very enjoyable session.

I took the wife shooting yesterday if that counts! She didn't like the recoil of her 9mm M&P so I loaded up some minimum loads for my 40 caliber Ruger KP944, which is much heavier than the M&P. I presented her with the plastic box labeled "light loads for Patsy", which she thought was funny. The recoil was much more manageable for her and she did very well. I shot the Ruger a few times but spent most of the time with my 4013TSW.

Now I have to decide whether to buy dies and bullets for the 9mm and work up some light loads for her or just let her shoot my Ruger with light loads.

I shot today too. I am a farm-boy...I just go out and shoot when I want too. So do my neighbors. It takes me an entire 10-minutes to get into town from way out here, but I do not have any ultra-liberal-gun-hating neighbors, or laws that prevent me from discharging my firearm inside the city limits.

I went today to the indoor range I belong to. I always take this Browning .22 and another pistol. This time it was my Browning HP .40, which is shooting high since I changed the recoil spring. Good fun, always. About 150 rounds, total.

I shot a bunch of .22 today.
Out the back door-steel with the model 41.
I did stroll to the pasture and shoot the Sig 522. I didn't want to walk all the way down to the pasture steel so I shot from the hill at about 110 yds. Is that lazy?

We went today, I shot with my two boys, one 18 and one 22. It was great, hot but overcast which is awesome in Southern Arizona. Took several .38's along with others
What can be better than sharing that time. The oldest is on his way back to College next weekend and range time with him will be limited. We'll shoot with him when we can.
It was a great day.

Best, Rick

I did. The wife and I went to the indoor range to shoot the pistols. We bought a S&W 686-6 4" SSR Pro this week and wanted to try it out. Shooting .38 SPL 130 grain FMJ. Awesome. If I knew they would be this much fun, I would have bought one ages ago. Also shot the other guns as well. Glock 19 (mine); the wife's S&W 9mm Compact; the Kimber Ultra carry and out FNH 57

Shot my M&P 45c today at my farmer friends range which 10 minutes from my house. Falling plates and permanent target stands are hard to beat. Range from 25yds to 100yds measured. Bench rest table available for sightins on rifles.

Farmer friend has a houseful of rifles but only one S&W a Pre 27 with 8 3/8s bbl.

Probably last time to shoot at his range until it rains as it is getting dry here and the fall wheat about to cut.

I went to the local outdoor range for some much needed practice. I took my (2) 1911's, 9mm and ,45ACP. Most of my recent shooting has been local IDPA, ICORE, or steel challenge matches. While shooting different types of competition is good skill development, and great fun, I wanted to get out and work on both my speed and accuracy. So I burned up about 150 round of each caliber. The heat wasn't too bad, but the humidity caused the smoke from the lead bullets to hang.

I also went over to the local indoor range this afternoon. Took the 642 to wring out the new Apex Tactical Trigger Kit I installed earlier this week. It shot like a dream. No misfires, no problems at all with over 50 rounds of reloads. Also got in some trigger time with the Glock 26 which I traded for about a month ago. All in all, it was a good time. Life is good.

I might even shoot this morning too. I see some misbehaving squirrels out in the wife's favorite pecan tree. She doesn't mind sharing, but the little buggers think all the pecans belong to them.

Haven't shot the 317 in a few days....think I'll go out and scare some small 4-legged critters back into the deep woods.

I went Thursday. It was all work though Shot two handgun qualifications with my new M&P 45 and a Sig 1911. The guns shot great, as I expected. It was hot out there, even before 9.

North Texas is in a major heat wave. 100+ for weeks now. I was a ball of sweat! It was a good session though. Had a chance to try out my "new" 3953 semi-auto.

Got a few rounds off this morning!

It's been so miserably hot in my part of Oklahoma this past month, I couldn't find anything enjoyable about being outside.

However, my hunger to get a few rounds off got the best of me this morning. I work out of our City Limits at a facility and just beyond the gate I have the 'OK' to do a lil shooting now and then.

I was out and about early enough to get off 50-60 rounds of .22 from my K22. Felt great for sure, and thankfully I was in the shade. My part of our fair state has been seeing temp's in the 106-109 range. NOT what I would call a good time doing anything outdoors.

Went shooting with my two nieces at the range with the M 28 .357 and M 17. 22, had a Super time with them . Both of them love the .357, they love the kick, and they are very good at putting it on target, they might put me to shame.I guess I could call it covering my back. Great Day.
