Default HELP ME MAKE A LIST

I am going to get one of each model of "N" frames---not necessarily each barrel length. Let's just start out with Model Numbers and calibers.

The S&W 696 is a 5 shot "L" frame - not a "N" frame. (but still a nice gun)

One of the Guns/American Handgunner writers, Mike Venturino, did this several years ago with the blued versions. He had a lot of difficulty finding one (the 21?) and eventually sold nearly all of them.

This is not going to be an overnight thing----$$$$$$---but I am going to start out with 4 in. barrels and see where this goes.
I could possibly get away from 4 inchers for a good buy on a longer--or--shorter barrel.
I am going to concentrate on "N" frames though. I just love the feel of an "N" frame in my hand--fits me to a "T".
Blessings

There are 2 NIB( I dont know the guy) Model 28-2 on GB, one 4 inch, one 6 inch. Just thought I would "push" you in the right direction. of course, they might go for retail plus 50%, so they might just be silly.....

Are you sticking with the model numbered guns or do you want to go pre-1957? You might check in with Handejector, I think he's got a copy of every Nframe ever built (or imagined, I suppose!). Jusk ask him to go through his safe and send you a picure of each.

So many GREAT revolvers so little time and $$ (?). So here goes: M-27, M-57, M-28, M-29, M-58, & M-24. Then follow up with a 38/44 H.D. and a pre M-27. For the next $10,000.00 you can get picky.

You may want to concentrate on the two-digit models only. Once you go into the modern stainless and everything else it gets complicated! S&W also made a blued fix sighted N frame in the 70s and called it a model 520. It may have been the first 3-digit model number.

Kitch
That sounds like sound advice and a plan.
Wait a minute here--did I say sound and then follow it up with--Plan.
That is not my MO.
Get it back from my daughter? No only NO but now she has another.
Blessings

Good luck on your quest. My N frame plan is one of each barrel length, preferably in the 2 digit models. If I can get each caliber as well that's gravy. Let's see, that's 3, 3.5, 4, 5, 6, 6.5, 8.375? I think I once saw one with a 10+ inch barrel, but I don't know if that's factory. I already have (or have on the way) the 4, 5 and 6. I'm sticking to shooter grade, since I want to shoot them. I can't afford LNIB safe queens; this is going to be expensive enough as it is.

The 29 in a 10 5/8" was the hardest for me to get,, got the reach way out and touch them effect.

Don't forget the Registered Magnum in 22LR. Now, was that one or two that were made in this caliber? IMO you are going to find this a very expensive and challenging endeavor.

However, I do understand the appeal, I've currently got my eye on a 627-5 at a local gun shop, just waiting for S&W to reopen and tell me if they will correct a 0.013 B/C gap under warranty and convert it to run moon clips on my dime. BTW, I've tried it with some snap caps and the trigger while heavy is smooth smooth smooth, just like my 610 before I took a bit of tension out of the mainspring and changed the rebound spring. Based on my limited sampling, the N frames seem to have a smoother trigger than any other frame size.
