Default Packin it up

I am new to shipping handguns and was wondering how to box it. Not a carrier question. How do you guys actually go about packing a blued or stainless gun, oiled, wraped in, packing materials. What do you put againt steel? Thanks all, Ted

I bought two that were just packed in bubble wrap in a small box. No damage. If you're not sending it by pony express, that should work. Personally, I put them in a Midway pistol sock then bubble wrap, and that worked well even when they had to stay packed a while when moving across country.

Same here, gun goes in a sock, wrapped with enough bubble wrap to fill the box.Any extra space gets styrofoam peanuts.

The ones shipped in the S&W boxes kinda take care of themselves. If there's no box, I always appreciate when someone wraps my pistol in bubble wrap, as it does not contain moisture as something made of cloth or untreated paper might. I guess, come to think of it, you'd want the pistol to have been at the same room temperature as the environment you're shipping it from, to avoid condensation after packaging. Of course, a very light oil coat would do the same thing.

my guns are stored in my safe in a soft hand gun bag, wipe down with oily rag or silicon rag .... for a moisture barrier i wrap them in butcher paper... to me its basically the same stuff some guns come boxed in.. not a thick as the gun paper but thicker than wax paper... and much cheaper... to me that is a good first layer of protection when boxing it up...
