Default Blast marks on the side of the cylinder on new N frames

Has anyone found a solution for the blast marks on the cylinder on the new N frames? I was looking for a longer screw to fill the hole in the frame above the cylinder thinking it might solve or reduce the blast marks but couldn't find a screw like the one S&W uses. I sent it back to S&W all they said was it was in spec. If my model 27 was stainless it wouldn't be an issue but I hate to hurt the beautiful bluing on my 27. I can't believe S&W hasn't just lengthen the screw or made it a blind hole.

I agree, it's something seemingly simple you'd think they could address.

N-frame models with a long barrel breech extension, like the 45ACP revolvers, don't have that problem because the B-C gap is farther away from the screw hole. Most of the magnums are right by it.

Midway sells a screw that's close. The head of the screw has the right shape & taper but it's a tad thicker.

3/16" long is too short & 1/4" is a little too long so 7/32" would be about right.

I used a 1/4" on one of my revolvers, that seemed to do it worse than the others, & filed the end flush to the frame. It's better but you still get a little of the blast mark from the screw hole on the cylinder.

If you don't mind the difference it's worth a try.
