Default Value check - 629 Mountain Backpacker

Just wondering the value of a 629-5 Mountain Backpacker, 44 Mag, scarce, 3 inch full lug, pre-lock, nice rosewood-type grips, fired little, adjustable sights, matching box, copy of S&W letter detailing limited issue? (Not a Mountain Gun, and not the later guns with the bear prints on the cylinder.) Thanks.

I would think in the 900 range, due to their relative lack of availability.

It is hard to say exactly. I would say around $800 roughly. I saw that same one for sale on another site. Are you the seller or buyer?

Default Mountain Backpacker

I bought my 629-5 MB locally a couple of years ago for $725.00. It had original box, grips and paperwork and felt like I did pretty well.

I sold it a year later and got "$850 plus shipping" for it pretty quickly.

I have been keeping an eye on the 3 inch 629's. The ones you describe are selling in the 700.00 to 900.00 range, with very few going for 700.00.
I was at a auction a couple of weeks ago, and the 3 inch 629's sold from 850.00 to 1050.00.
They go up and down and are on a high at this moment.
